現代語訳
三千金を掘り出し、家の中を整理して店を開くと、近隣の人々は皆やって来て、老人が無事であることを祝って帰っていった。このように不思議なことばかりが続いていたが、さらに不思議なのは、今ここに連れて来たこの二匹の犬が、まず家の中にいて、老人を認識したかのように非常に従順であることだった。老人は思った。「もともと我が家では犬を飼っていない。家の中に犬がいるはずがない」と不審に思っていると、しばらくして仙女である新婦が再び現れて来て「我が愛しい夫よ、あなたはこの二匹の犬が家の中にいるのを見て不審に思われますか。これは怪しむべきものではありません。すなわちあなたの二人の弟なのです」と告げた。

He dug up the three thousand pieces of gold, tidied up his house, and opened a shop. All the neighbors came to congratulate the old man on his safe return and then went home. While such mysterious events continued to unfold, what was even more strange was that the two dogs he had brought here were already in his house, and they were extremely obedient as if they recognized the old man.
