群所書曰
熊谷草《割書：又｜》布袋草 並芝《割書：漢｜名｜》
各一華二葉一莖
熊谷《割書：大和｜本草｜》 或は敦盛熊谷一物なり
花の紫なるを爲敦盛と
花薄（うす）白を爲熊谷と地錦
抄に布袋草熊谷敦盛
三物を分けて載せ布袋熊谷は
一物にめ無分
源氏の武臣熊谷直實と云者
一の谷合戦有戦功其の圖め負くる
母衣の形勢（ありさま）を讃む之を此の草の状似たる
母衣に故以て熊谷を名之迂遠
之甚き者也
日光山志云熊谷草敦盛草
草に似たる者なり両種を一所
に植える時果して敦盛草は絶
る夫より熊谷敦盛と名付たる
者なり云々
考 草に似たる者未見日光
敦盛草一所 種樹あり紫苑
にめ形状熊谷に似たり
乙酉姑洗初九日望
深山探艸手折一

群書に曰く
熊谷草、また布袋草 並びに芝（漢名）

熊谷（大和本草） 或いは敦盛熊谷は一物なり
花の紫なるを敦盛とし
花薄白を熊谷とす。地錦
抄には布袋草、熊谷、敦盛の
三物を分けて載せ、布袋熊谷は
一物にて区別無し
源氏の武臣熊谷直実という者
一の谷合戦にて戦功あり、その時背負う
母衣の形勢（ありさま）を讃え、これをこの草の状が似たる
母衣に故をもって熊谷を名付く、迂遠

日光山志に云う、熊谷草敦盛草は
草に似たる者なり。両種を一所
に植うる時、果して敦盛草は絶ゆ

英語訳
Various books state:
Kumagai grass, also Hotei grass Together called Shiba (Chinese name)
Each with one flower, two leaves, one stem
Kumagai (Yamato Honzō) Perhaps Atsumori and Kumagai are the same plant
The purple flower is called Atsumori
The pale white flower is called Kumagai. The Chikin
Shō lists Hotei grass, Kumagai, and Atsumori as
three separate plants, but Hotei and Kumagai are
the same plant with no distinction
Kumagai Naozane, a warrior retainer of the Genji
Had military achievements at the Battle of Ichi-no-Tani, and the appearance
of the mother (war banner) he carried on his back was praised. Because this grass's form resembled
that mother, it was named Kumagai - this is
extremely far-fetched
The Nikkō Sanshi states: Kumagai grass and Atsumori grass
are plants that resemble grass. When both varieties are planted
in the same place, the Atsumori grass indeed dies out
From this came the names Kumagai and Atsumori
and so forth
Investigation: I have not yet seen plants resembling grass. At Nikkō there is
Atsumori grass in one place There are planted varieties, purple asters
whose form resembles Kumagai
