木花大ブ異ナリ花四葩実其色

メ蒔ケハ三年ニメ芽ヲ生ス竒トス
亦常ノ山吹ノ花白ノ者ヲ白山

寿曰く
これは普通の棣棠（ヤマブキ）に葉が似ているが
木と花は大いに異なる。花は四弁で実はその色が
黒く、一箇所に四つずつ付く。その実は甚だ堅く
蒔けば三年で芽を生ずる。奇なりとす。
また普通の山吹の花で白いものを白山
吹という。

Kotobuki says:
This plant has leaves similar to the ordinary kerria (yamabuki), but
the wood and flowers are greatly different. The flowers have four petals and the fruits are
black in color, with four attached at each location. The fruits are extremely hard,
and when sown, they sprout after three years. This is considered remarkable.
Also, ordinary kerria flowers that are white are called white ker-
ria.
