く馬挑灯（ばちやうちん）をともし近き友 親族（しんるい）へ見舞に

少し気のおさまれる方は大道にて茶をわかし

馬挑灯を灯して近い友人や親族へ見舞いに通ることをお互いにして、転び寝の枕元へ犬が這ってくるのもとても興味深かった。井戸の水は皆濁っていた。少し気の落ち着いた人は大道で茶を沸かし、飯を作り、沢水を汲んで、ようやく食物が喉を通るといっても、心は落ち着かずただどろどろと揺れ続けていた。町内では拍子木や割り竹を鳴らして火の用心の触れ回りを厳重に行った。どこからか老人がやってきて、まじないを与える者があった。その歌に
