夫天地の理 明（あき）らかなれば物に臆（おく）せず精神（せいしん）
強（つよ）ければ事に驚（おどろ）かずといへどもことわざニ
黒犬（くろいぬ）にうまれて灰汁（あく）のたれ糟（かす）とかや
二日の大変 誠ニ肝胆（きも）に徹（てつ）し少しのドロ〳〵
にも上（かみ）を塞（ふきこ）ぎそれより病人 数多（あまた）ある
中ニ近辺に地震より病気の平癒（へいゆう）したる
人もあり是はまさしく気のはりにて
現代語訳
大地震録（おおじしんろく）下
そもそも天地の理が明らかであれば物事に臆することなく、精神が強ければ事に驚かないというけれども、ことわざに「黒犬に生まれて灰汁のたれ糟」とかいう通り、二日の大変事は誠に肝に銘じるほどで、少しの地鳴りにも上を塞ぎ込み、それより病人が数多くある中に、近辺では地震によって病気が治った人もある。これはまさしく気の張りによるものである。

While it is said that if one understands the principles of heaven and earth clearly, one will not be intimidated by things, and if one's spirit is strong, one will not be startled by events, there is a proverb that goes "born as a black dog, lye drippings and dregs." The great disaster of the second day truly penetrated to the very core, and even the slightest rumbling caused people to cover their heads in fear. Since then, while there have been many sick people, there are also those in the neighborhood whose illnesses were cured by the earthquake. This is surely due to the strengthening of one's vital energy.
