此ほと【この期間】は参りさふらはすと申せはそのとき我

しゝう申けるはふつみやうと申は三世のしよふつの

この頃三十日あまり、私がこちらでお世話申し上げているため、この期間は参内しておりません」と申し上げると、その時帝は「私が見ないほどの美人ならば、こちらへ、内侍では釣り合うまい」と仰せられたので、「どのようにして、何のきっかけをもって御覧に入れ申し上げられましょうか。身分の低い者の仕業では釣り合いますまい」と申し上げた。その時帝はしばらく御思案があって「それならば師走の仏名の聴聞をなさるがよい」と仰せられたので、内侍は里に帰って従者にこのように語ったところ、従者は申し上げるには「どのような女御や后妃も、我が姫君にはどうして勝ることができましょうか。帝が御覧になったならば、必ずお気に入りになられるでしょう。どのようにして参内させ申し上げましょうか」と準備をした。従者は姫君の御前に参って

When she replied, "How could I, and with what opportunity could I present her to you? Such actions by one of low status would not be appropriate," the Emperor pondered for a while and then said, "Then let her attend the Buddha-name ceremony listening in the twelfth month." The naishi returned home and told her attendant, who said, "What empress or consort could possibly surpass our young lady? If the Emperor were to see her, he would surely favor her. said, "Please attend the Buddha-name ceremony listening. It is said that if one listens to the ceremony, one will meet one's mother." When she spoke these auspicious words, the young lady, quite innocently, replied, "That listening ceremony is quite sinful. I will not attend, but you may go." The attendant then said, "The Buddha-name ceremony involves worshipping the three-body manifestations of all Buddhas of the three worlds, and it is said that if one listens even once, one will surely meet one's parents in the next life. If you attend the listening ceremony, you will be able to meet your parents. I too will accompany you, and together we can also pursue the Buddhist path..."
