Love Poems Linked to Famous Places
With only the thought that we shall surely meet in the end,
I set foot upon this road they call love—
the Barrier of Shirakawa.
Why does it become so entangled like this?
Though within myself my heart has come undone,
the Barrier of the Lower Cord.
Why have I become so needlessly
dyed like the Somegawa River—this wandering heart
is now a source of bitter regret.
