【右丁】
たとえその言葉に果たして誤りがあったとしても、この言葉は従来医者でない者の害になるものではない。医者でない者に害にならないだけでなく、また酒を飲まない者の害にもならない。ただ酒を飲んで酒に困っている者にとってのみ害となる。そうであれば、この言葉に誤りがあって、あえて深酒や大酒を慎まず、酒禍を免れない者があっても、それは私の願うところである。ただ恐れるのは、世の人で悪賢く、この言葉に惑わされて誤る者が多くないことである。子曰く「過ちを観れば、ここに仁を知る」と。私は訛りが訛りを伝える過ちを辞さないつもりである。同志でこれを見る者は各々一本を得たいと欲するが、書き写すことの困難に苦しんでいる。そこでこれを書林に相談すると、書林

Even if those words indeed contain errors, these words do not harm those who are not physicians. Not only do they not harm non-physicians, they also do not harm those who do not drink. They only harm those who drink and are troubled by alcohol. If that is the case, then if there are those who, misled by errors in these words, dare not abstain from heavy drinking and carousing and cannot avoid alcohol-related disasters, that would be what I wish for. I only fear that there will not be many worldly people who are cunning and clever enough to be misled and err because of these words. Confucius said: "By observing a person's faults, one can understand their humanity." I will not refuse to accept the fault of allowing errors to propagate errors.
