If bodhisattvas dwell among ten trillion buddha-lands, become Paranirmitavaśavartin heaven kings, cultivate ten trillion dharma-gates, using twelve-link dependent origination wisdom to transform all sentient beings—This clarifies sixth ground bodhisattvas. The four sentences are the same as above.
If bodhisattvas dwell among ten thousand billion buddha-lands, become first dhyāna kings, cultivate one hundred million billion dharma-gates, using skillful means wisdom and vow wisdom to transform all sentient beings—This clarifies seventh ground bodhisattvas. Skillful means wisdom and vow wisdom are the sequential two wisdoms. The four sentences are the same as above.
If bodhisattvas dwell among buddha-lands numbering like a million dust particles, become second dhyāna Brahmā kings, cultivate dharma-gates numbering like a million dust particles, using dual illumination of skillful means and supernatural wisdom to transform all sentient beings—Clarifying eighth ground bodhisattvas. Using supernatural powers to transform sentient beings. The four sentences are the same as above.
If bodhisattvas dwell among buddha-lands numbering like a million billion asaṃkhyeya dust particles, become third dhyāna great Brahmā kings, cultivate dharma-gates numbering like a million billion asaṃkhyeya dust particles, using four unobstructed wisdoms to transform all sentient beings—Clarifying ninth ground bodhisattvas. nature of all dharmas is dharma unobstruction, understanding the differential nature and arising-ceasing characteristics of all dharmas is meaning unobstruction. Using provisional names to explain true characteristics is expression unobstruction, wisdom of unceasing dharma explanation is joyful unobstruction—consider this.
If bodhisattvas dwell among ineffably ineffable buddha-lands, become fourth dhyāna Great Tranquility heaven kings, rulers of the three realms, cultivate ineffably ineffable dharma-gates, attain principle-exhaustion samādhi, identical to buddha practice-places, exhausting the source of the three realms, teaching and transforming all sentient beings like buddha realms—therefore all bodhisattvas' fundamental activities are pure—Clarifying tenth ground bodhisattvas. Principle-exhaustion samādhi means using vajra concentration to illuminate and fathom buddha-nature, hence called principle-exhaustion. Being identical to buddha-eye vision is called identical to buddha ground. Also being identical to extinction-tranquility forbearance is called identical to buddha practice-places. Skillfully severing the seeds of the highest existence is called exhausting the source of the three realms.《split writing: text》
If the tathāgatas of the ten directions also cultivate this activity, ascending to sarvajña fruition, becoming three-realm kings to transform all sentient beings—This clarifies the buddha ground. Within are three parts. First clarifying self-attainment of sarvajña fruition. Second, from "becoming three-realm [kings]" below, clarifying enhanced birth characteristics. Third, from "transforming all" below, clarifying transformation characteristics and practice characteristics—consider this.
At that time, the great assembly numbering like hundreds of millions of Ganges sands each arose from their seats, scattered immeasurable inconceivable flowers, joined palms to listen to King Prasenajit explain prajñāpāramitā, and now before the Buddha praised in verse saying:
The third major section is the great assembly celebrating receiving dharma benefits through offerings. The text has five parts. First establishing offerings. Second, from "now before the Buddha" below, clarifying Moonlight praising how the buddha's explained eleven-ground practice characteristics can benefit sentient beings. Third, from "then the various great assembly hearing Moonlight" below, clarifying how the assembly hearing Moonlight's praise gained immeasurable benefits. fundamental practices. Fifth, from "these fourteen dharma-gates" below, citing the above dharma-gates to conclude and praise cultivation and learning. Also called common cultivation by ordinary and sage beings of the three times. The initial offerings are first flowers, then incense—namely bodhicitta flowers and Mahāyāna precept incense.
World-Honored One, guide-teacher with vajra body—mind-practice in extinction-tranquility turns the dharma wheel
With eight eloquences' vast sound explaining for the assembly
Totaling fifty-nine verses. Divided into three major parts. The first six lines generally praise the above meanings. Second, from "ten wholesome [practices]" below, forty-five lines separately praise the merits of the fourteen forbearances. Third, from "three worthies" below, eight lines repeatedly conclude and praise the merits of the above five forbearances, etc. Within this, these three sentences praise the Buddha's three activities. The first sentence considers bodily activity. The next sentence considers mental activity. The next sentence is verbal activity. The eight eloquences according to the Brahmāyu Sūtra are: first, most excellent; second, easily understood; third, harmonious; fourth, gentle; fifth, unerring; sixth, not false; seventh, honored wisdom; eighth, profound—consider this. "Vast" means great.
The assembly attained the path—hundreds of millions—then the six heavens and humans [entered] the path of renunciation
Becoming bhikṣu assemblies accomplishing bodhisattva practices
"The assembly" etc., one and a half lines clarify the assembly gaining immeasurable benefits. Heaven has no renunciation dharma, only abandoning bonds to enter the path. There is no meaning of shaving hair and beard—consider this.
Five forbearances' merit—wondrous dharma-gates—fourteen noble ones can truly understand
Three worthies and ten sages practice within forbearance—only Buddha alone can exhaust the source
These two lines generally praise the merits of the five forbearances. The five forbearance practices are profound and wondrous dharma-gates. The fourteen sage persons fathom and realize

without falsity, hence called true understanding. Training the mind and learning contemplation in the habit-nature path and the seed-nature path is called the three worthies. These thirteen persons are equally in the causal stage, engaged in cultivation and construction without yet ceasing, hence called practicing within forbearance. The Buddha dwells in the resultant stage, fathoming and realizing true characteristics, hence called exhausting the source.
Buddha, assembly, dharma ocean—three jewel treasury—immeasurable merits contained within
These two lines praise the one-body three jewels. Buddha is the buddha jewel, assembly is the saṅgha jewel, dharma is the dharma jewel. The one-body three jewels encompass and store all. This is called treasury. Having no virtue that is not complete, hence saying "contained within."《split writing: text》
Ten wholesome bodhisattvas generate great mind—permanently separating from the three realms' suffering wheel ocean
Below, the second section has forty-five lines separately praising the above fourteen forbearances. Within are six sections. The first two lines praise the preparatory skillful means before subjugation forbearance. The second, from "habit-nature" below, has seven lines praising the upper, middle, and lower merits of subjugation forbearance. The third, seven lines from "good awakening" below, explain the upper, middle, and lower merits of faith forbearance. The fourth, eight lines from "flame wisdom" below, explain the upper, middle, and lower merits of compliance forbearance. The fifth, ten lines from "far-reaching" below, explain the upper, middle, and lower merits of no-arising forbearance. The sixth, eight lines from "consecration" below, explain the upper and lower merits of extinction-tranquility forbearance. This first explains the outer ordinary. Because of generating one thought of bodhicitta, they break the beginningless wheel of existence. Hence saying "permanently separating from the three realms' suffering wheel ocean." Though the ten faiths have not yet left the three realms, having already generated great mind seeking to leave the three realms, already able to leave the three evil destinies, the text generally says "permanently separate."《split writing: etc.》
