とは大なこんのすけのつほねせうなこんはひやうゑ
のすけのつほねしゝうはさゑもんのすけのつほね
とてことに御はうしゆつありけりさておといは中
將殿の御ゆかりなれはなつかしくおほしけりそ
のうへわうしの御めのとにて御はうしん有けれは
大なこんの事かきりなくしてみやこはめてたか
りし事よかはまてもきこへて中将にうたう【入道】を
といかもとへかくそかきてをくり給ふ
いろめけるはなのたもともうらやまは
こけのころもそけには身につく
かしこくもはなのたもとをかはしける

きみかさかえをみるにつけても
とかきてをくられけるもまことのみちに入とおも
へはたつとくそおほし【或は「え」カ】けるひめきみかやうにわうし
御たんしやうなりてきさきのくらゐにならせ給へとも
つゆもうれしくおほさすたゝ御心のうちあはれち
きりしまゝに中将殿とおなしいほりにすまい
てうき世をすこさはいかにうれしかりなんとあ
けくれはおほしけりされともちからなくいよ〳〵
めてたくさかへ給へりひめきみの御くわほう中将殿
のまことのみちもこれみなきよみつのくわんおんの御
りしやう【御利生＝御利益】なりあはれめてたかりける御くわほうか

【右丁】
とは大納言佐の局、少納言は兵衛佐の局、侍従は左衛門佐の局といって、特に御褒賞があった。さて弟君は中将殿の御縁者であるので親しくお思いになった。その上、皇子の御乳母であって御奉信があったので、大納言の事は限りなくして、都は素晴らしかった事よ。川まで聞こえて、中将入道の弟君のもとへこのように書いてお送りになる。
色めいた花の袂も羨ましいなら
苔の衣こそ気には身に付く
賢くも花の袂を交わした
【左丁】
君が栄えを見るにつけても
と書いてお送りになったのも、真の仏道に入ったと思うので尊くお思いになった。姫君がこのように皇子をお産みになって后の位におなりになったけれども、少しも嬉しくお思いにならず、ただ御心の内では、哀れ尽きることなく中将殿と同じ庵に住んで、憂き世を少しは、いかに嬉しいことだろうと朝夕お思いになった。けれども仕方なく、いよいよ素晴らしく栄えていらっしゃった。姫君の御果報、中将殿の真の仏道も、これみな清水の観音の御利益である。ああ素晴らしかった御果報よ。

The news reached even to the rivers, and she wrote and sent this to the younger brother of the Middle Captain who had become a monk:
Even the colorful sleeves of flowers are enviable,
But the moss-colored robes suit one's nature better
How wise to have exchanged flowery sleeves

Writing and sending this, since she thought he had entered the true path, she found it venerable. Though the princess had given birth to princes in this way and attained the rank of empress, she felt no joy at all. Only in her heart, feeling endless sorrow, she thought morning and evening how wonderful it would be to live in the same hermitage as the Middle Captain and escape this sorrowful world a little. Nevertheless, having no choice, she prospered ever more magnificently. The princess's good fortune and the Middle Captain's true path were all due to the blessed benefits of Kiyomizu Kannon. Ah, what wonderful good fortune it was!
