現代語訳
また釈迦が弟子に五百蔵という者がいて、この者を羅漢と言っていたので、五百羅漢と呼んでいた。釈迦のところへ秤を売りに来る。釈迦は「定石（じょうせき）として金がいるだろう」と、羽織の袖へ二三両をちょっと捻って入れてやる。

「今日はちょっと賭場に入りに行くので易しいから、竜門の秤というところを貸しておくれ」

それより釈迦はこけ（滑稽）の行いをし、極楽浄土の北方（吉原）を取らんと看板を出した。

Moreover, Shaka had a disciple called Gohyakuzō, and since he called this person a rakan (arhat), he was known as Gohyaku-rakan (Five Hundred Arhats). He came to Shaka to sell scales. Shaka thought "As a standard practice, money will be needed," so he twisted two or three ryō into his haori sleeve and gave it to him.
