ああ有り難いことよ、釈迦如来が涅槃の床にお上がりになると、家内の菩薩たちが周りを囲み、二階座敷にて二上りの音楽が聞こえる。紙の花びらがひらひらと降り来る折から、このことを聞き伝えた虎に馬吉、丑太夫、おつる、おかめ、遣手のお熊をはじめとして、多くの町の類い、仲間共が折々に集まり、有り難かったこの里のことをとろとろと唱えた。

大勢の喜びの声には、かの囃子もこれにはどうして勝ることができようかと聞こえた。
このようなお話もないような、つまらない芝居だまくまくぞと、おっしゃれば、よろしい。

Ah, how blessed it is! When Shakyamuni Buddha ascends to the bed of nirvana, the bodhisattvas of the household surround him, and from the second-floor parlor comes the music of ni-agari tuning. As paper flower petals flutter down, those who heard this tale - Tora, Bakichi, Ushidayu, Otsuru, Okame, and the yarite O-Kuma, along with many townspeople and companions - gather from time to time and drowsily chant about the blessings of this quarter.
