現代語訳
【右上段】
ここに草双紙ほど年月の早く経つものはない。釈迦十郎も道楽盛りとなり、黒い下履きに細身のお足で、三枚芯の高い草履は人を見下ろす踏み台と見えて、天にも地にも我一人という色男の身である。
ある時、隣の息子を誘って吉原へやって来た。無性にやたらと洒落を言う。
「もう（女郎が）吐きそうな...」

初会の女郎衆と見たが、野暮にせずと何ぞ戯れ言を言うつもりで思い出した。
「とうとう大横丁が建て買いを蔵った息子、何それ、あんまり通人になろうと思わない方がよい。旦那様と言われるたびに残念でならない。」
【右下段】
「主のお客衆はよくお洒落ですねぇ。いっそ嫌いですよ。」

【Right Upper Section】
Nothing passes as quickly as the years in a kusazōshi story. Shakajūrō had reached the height of his dissolute years, wearing black footwear with slender feet, and high geta with triple-layered soles that seemed like platforms for looking down on people—truly embodying the attitude of "I alone in heaven and earth" as a dandy.
One time, he invited the neighbor's son and came to Yoshiwara. He was frantically making puns and jokes.
"I'm about to throw up..."

Seeing the courtesans at their first meeting, thinking to avoid being boorish, he recalled some witty remark to make.
"Finally, the one from Ōyokochō who bought a building stored it away. Son, you shouldn't try so hard to become a connoisseur. Every time I'm called 'master,' I feel frustrated."
【Right Lower Section】
"Your customers are very stylish indeed. Honestly, I dislike it."
(She's saying she dislikes Shakajūrō because he only makes bad puns)
