其儘見合罷在候然ㇽ処当春町内一同御宗帳
通り丁役義無不同正人足ニ而相勤候様願出候ニ付
平十郎《割書：江》借家役義儀掛合候得共一切取用ひ

18行目「役義？儀」の所ですが、「役儀」で「やくめ。つとめ。任務。職分」の意味があるので、この意味でこの行の意味は通りますので、「義」は「衍字」と解釈したらどうかと思います。

町内であれこれと申し合わせをしている間に、年月も遅れ、延々と長引いてしまいました。その後段々と右の役義の件について申す者もおりましたが、町人のことゆえ人々が我意を申し立て、異議を嫌って等閑にしてしまいました。

そうしたところ、八、九年以前に右の借家の大戸などを取り払い、見世座敷に取り繕いたい旨願い出ましたので、町並みの御役義を勤めるよう平重郎へ申し聞かせましたが、やはりその節も承知いたしません。そこで恐れながら願い上げましたところ、町御役人衆中が早速お調べくださいましたので、右の借家の諸役義をきっと勤めるよう仰せ付けられ、すぐに平十郎へ申し渡したところ、三日の間日延べを願い出ました。

その間に赤次村の源兵衛という者を呼び寄せて様々に取り繕いなどをした趣も聞こえ、その上町内から右の役義などを申し出た者どもを無実の越度にも致そうとの風聞があり、その内にお上の御機嫌も変わったとの趣を町役人衆中からも仰せ聞かされましたので、止むを得ずそのまま見合わせておりました。

そうしたところ当春、町内一同が御宗帳通り町役義を不同なく正人足で勤めるよう願い出ましたので、平十郎へ借家役儀の件を掛け合いましたが、一切取り上げてもらえません。平方へも一同で御願い申し上げる儀は恐れ入る儀があるとして、度々申し含め差し控えさせようとしましたが、止むを得ないと申し出ましたので、やむを得ず

While we were discussing various matters within the neighborhood, time passed and the situation dragged on indefinitely. Afterward, there were occasionally people who brought up the matter of these duties, but since they were townspeople, everyone expressed their own opinions and disliked disputes, so the matter was neglected.

Then, about eight or nine years ago, he applied to remove the large doors of the rental property and renovate it into a display room (mise-zashiki). We told Heijūrō that he should fulfill his neighborhood duties, but again on that occasion he would not comply. Therefore, we respectfully submitted a petition, and the town officials promptly investigated the matter. They ordered that the various duties for the rental property must definitely be performed and immediately conveyed this to Heijūrō, but he requested a three-day extension.

During that time, we heard that he summoned a man named Genbei from Akasugi village and made various arrangements with him. Moreover, there were rumors that he would make those from the neighborhood who had brought up these duty matters guilty of false accusations, and we were also told by the town officials that the lord's disposition had changed in the meantime. Therefore, we had no choice but to let the matter rest as it was.

However, this spring, everyone in the neighborhood petitioned that town duties should be performed uniformly by proper personnel according to the religious registry (goshūchō). We negotiated with Heijūrō about the rental property duties, but he completely refused to consider it.
