　　六月三日の芳墨（手紙）が薩摩守より到来し、手にして閲覧させた。去年使者具志州が来貢し、営（江戸城）に登って御礼を畢え還国し、我が大君幕下の欽命を伝えて、下された品々を数の如く拝受した。感戴の余り、その臣兼城を薩摩に趣かせて謝を奉った。我らが足下に寄贈した物及び具志州に与えた薄物についても謝されており、今恵まれた土産を目録の如く領した。異域遠路、その懇情をもって怡悦すべきである。余事は薩摩守によってこれを伝える。恐々不一

The fragrant letter of the third day of the sixth month arrived from the Lord of Satsuma, and I have received and read it. Last year the envoy Gushishū came bearing tribute, ascended to the camp (Edo Castle), completed his respectful ceremonies and returned to his country, conveying the respectful command of our Great Lord under the shogunal authority, and reverently received the items bestowed according to their number. In his overwhelming gratitude, he sent his retainer Kaneshiro to Satsuma to offer thanks. You also expressed gratitude for the items we sent to you and the humble goods given to Gushishū, and I have now received the local products you favored us with according to the catalog. From such a distant foreign land and remote journey, your sincere feelings bring great joy. Other matters will be conveyed through the Lord of Satsuma. With fear and reverence, incompletely stated.
