during the siege, participated up to the vicinity of the main keep.
It is also recorded that Miura Shima-no-kami, as a leading figure, arrived at Hara Castle around the 25th or 26th day of the second month. Since he happened to stay until the time of the castle's fall, on the 27th day he did not bring any of his own troops but came as an immediate envoy. However, on the 27th day of the second month, he accompanied Matsudaira Izu-no-kami, who was wearing armor, to the second bailey. Because it was an unexpectedly sudden departure, he had barely managed to put on his armor, and since he was holding his shield overhead rather than carrying it properly, those who saw this were amused. This too was nothing out of the ordinary.
It is also recorded that Itakura Naizen-no-shō's son Monto-no-shō, on the 27th day of the second month, charged from the third bailey into the second bailey, pressed forward to the vicinity of the main keep, and attacked with firearms.
It is also recorded that Ishigai Jūzō, on the 27th day of the second month, though it was unexpected, since the second and third baileys had been captured and were ablaze, reached the vicinity of the main keep, but nothing particular happened.
It is also recorded that in the early morning of the 27th day of the second month, the rebels in the outer bailey surrendered and withdrew into the second bailey. Regarding this, Nabeshima reported, "Since they have abandoned and withdrawn from the outer bailey, should we take control of the outer bailey?" When he inquired of the general Izu-no-kami, [the response continues...]
