　は山希已しく上に石垣も高く有な連は駕籠
　尓て乗込事も難成左あらは郎等共駕籠をは
　捨て本丸へ乗込迚下知を志けれは郎等共我
　劣ら志と乗込乍去其早き達有り楚古にて討
　死春る者も有由聞及也皆人評判す古実盛さ
　いこよりは甚三郎思ひ入強かるへきと誉也
又曰大将伊豆守子息松平甲斐守は二月廿七日
　落城之砌父伊豆守与り先に手勢斗尓て三之
　曲輪ゟ二之曲輪江乗込一文字に本丸之石垣
　之際迄自身真先懸て押寄る甲斐守与参る手

　勢共本丸際にて手負死人も有つる由承及則
　本丸江乗らんと春る処におちの井上筑後守
　参り申様者父伊豆守今度之大将な連は先手
　諸大名衆軍法定之時縦令我等忰甲斐守をも
　先江越し申間敷候与堅約束有間是非跡江被
　帰候得与被申け連は甲斐守無是非父伊豆守
　前江参りたり見る者聞者共若き武者を残多
　き事哉与云怒者はなかりけり甲斐守振り一
　段見事也与見る人ほむる也
又曰井上筑後守子息清兵衛尉も二月廿七日落

は山が険しく、その上石垣も高いので、駕籠に乗ったままでは乗り込むことも困難である。それならば郎等たちよ、駕籠は捨てて本丸へ乗り込もうと下知したので、郎等たちも我に劣らじと乗り込んだ。しかしながら、その勇敢な者たちの中にはそこで討死する者もあったと聞いている。皆が評判して言うには、「斎藤実盛よりも甚三郎の方が思い入れが強いであろう」と褒めたたえている。

また曰く、大将伊豆守の子息松平甲斐守は、二月二十七日の落城の際、父伊豆守より先に手勢だけで三の曲輪から二の曲輪へ乗り込み、一文字に本丸の石垣の際まで自身が真っ先に懸けて押し寄せた。甲斐守と参る手

勢たちは本丸際で負傷者や死者も出たということを承知している。そして本丸へ乗ろうとしたところに、井上筑後守がやって来て申すには、「父伊豆守は今度の大将であるので、先手の諸大名衆が軍法を定めた時、たとえ我等の息子甲斐守であっても先を越させるべきではないと堅く約束があるので、是非とも後へお帰り下さい」と申したので、甲斐守は仕方なく父伊豆守の前へ参った。見る者聞く者たちは皆、若い武者を留めるとは残念なことだと言い、怒る者はいなかった。甲斐守の振る舞いは一段と見事であると見る人が褒めたたえている。

It is also recorded that Matsudaira Kai-no-kami, the son of the general Izu-no-kami, on the 27th day of the second month when the castle fell, preceded his father Izu-no-kami and charged from the third bailey into the second bailey with only his own troops, charging straight ahead to the base of the main keep's stone walls, leading from the very front himself. who accompanied Kai-no-kami sustained wounded and dead at the base of the main keep, as I understand. When he was about to charge into the main keep, Inoue Chikugo-no-kami came and said, "Since your father Izu-no-kami is the general this time, when the various daimyō of the vanguard established military law, there was a firm agreement that even our son Kai-no-kami should not be allowed to go ahead first. Please, you must return to the rear." Since he said this, Kai-no-kami had no choice but to return to his father Izu-no-kami's presence. Those who saw and heard this all said it was regrettable to hold back such a young warrior, but none were angry. Everyone who saw praised Kai-no-kami's conduct as exceptionally admirable.
