　　一筆令啓上候一揆共取籠申候城今廿七日
　　之未之刻惣責仕三之丸二之丸本丸二之丸之
　　出丸大江口之出丸不残首尾好乗破放火
　　仕候日暮申候故何事茂諸手之者三之二之
　　丸方々に直に備を立罷在候城中に而此状茂

現代語訳

一筆申し上げます。一揆どもが立て籠もった城を、今日二十七日の未の刻（午後二時頃）に総攻撃いたしました。三の丸、二の丸、本丸、二の丸の出丸、大江口の出丸、すべて残らず首尾よく攻め破り、放火いたしました。日が暮れましたので、何事も諸手の者たちが三の丸、二の丸の各所に直ちに備えを立てて控えております。城中でこの書状も認めておりますので、詳細については明日申し入れるつもりです。右の通り、板倉内膳正殿、松平信濃守殿、小笠原遠江守殿にも申し遣わしください。恐れながら謹んで申し上げます。

なお、この書状を江戸に早々に遣わしてください。以上。

英語訳

I write to report that the castle where the rebels had barricaded themselves was subjected to a general assault today, the 27th day, at the hour of the Sheep (around 2 PM). The third bailey, second bailey, main bailey, the outer bailey of the second bailey, and the outer bailey of Ōeguchi—all were successfully stormed and set on fire without exception. Since evening has come, all forces have immediately established defensive positions in various parts of the third and second baileys and remain on guard. As I am writing this letter from within the castle, I will report the details tomorrow. Please also inform Lord Itakura Naizen-shō, Lord Matsudaira Shinano-no-kami, and Lord Ogasawara Tōtōmi-no-kami of the above. Respectfully and humbly submitted.

Furthermore, please send this letter to Edo with all haste. That is all.
