現代語訳
坂の下と言う所より新道と旧道との分かれがあり、旧道を上って行くと追分がある。右は鎌先、左は羽前道で、川原子を経て七ヶ宿村へと通じ、関宿まで五里余りとなる。
○一等道路の白石町と宮村との間に子捨川と言う所があり、西の方で橋のほとりにある茶屋の傍らにあるのは鎌先道の追分の碑である。この碑は元禄五年壬申年六月に、白石の阿古箇嶋八重治氏の寄附によって建設されたものであるが、源義経公の家臣・常陸坊海尊の霊神が同氏のもとに度々滞在されていた時の真筆であると言われている。
○温泉が湧き出る場所は、おおむね深山幽谷の渓流に沿った、景色が静かで奥深い土地に多い。ここはかなり辺鄙で閑静な山里と言えるが、温泉のために旅舎が四軒ある。それぞれの目印は、温泉主・一条一平、村山卯平、鈴木幸右衛門、木村源八など四戸である。四方を山々に囲まれて遠くを見渡すことは少ないけれども、春は山々に霞がたなびき、また山桜が咲き乱れて、湯治客の心と目を楽しませる。夏は樹々が鬱蒼として閑静であるが、夜となく昼となく時鳥（ホトトギス）の声が耳にうるさいほど聞こえるのも珍しい。秋になれば樹々の紅葉が色を競い合い、四方に錦を張るようである。

From the place called Saka-no-shita (Below the Slope), there is a fork between the new road and the old road. Going up along the old road, one reaches a road junction (oiwake). To the right is Kamasaki, and to the left is the road to Uzen, passing through Kawarako to connect with Shichikashuku village, with the distance to Seki post station being more than five ri.
○ Along the first-class road between Shiroishi-machi and Miya village, there is a place called Kosutegawa (Child-Abandoning River). To the west, beside a teahouse at the foot of a bridge, stands a road marker stone for the Kamasaki road junction. This stone marker was built in the sixth month of the fifth year of Genroku (year of the Water Monkey, 1692) through the donation of Yakoji Agokajima of Shiroishi. It is said to bear the personal brushwork of Hitachibō Kaison, the retainer of Lord Minamoto no Yoshitsune, written during the times when the spirit of Kaison frequently took lodging with Mr. Agokajima.
○ Places where hot springs gush forth are generally found along mountain streams in deep mountains and secluded valleys, in quiet and remote landscapes. Although this place can be described as quite a secluded and tranquil mountain hamlet, there are four inns here owing to the hot springs. Their respective markers are: the hot springs proprietor Ichijo Ippei, Murayama Uohei, Suzuki Koemon, and Kimura Genpachi — four establishments in all. Although surrounded on all sides by mountains and thus offering little in the way of distant views, in spring, mist trails across the mountains and wild cherry blossoms bloom in profusion, delighting the eyes and hearts of the bathing guests. In summer, the trees grow thick and lush, making for a quiet atmosphere, yet day and night alike the cries of the hototogisu (little cuckoo) ring so loudly in one's ears that it is quite remarkable. When autumn arrives, the foliage of the trees vies in color, as though spreading brocade in all directions.
