同年十二月五日、来年日光御社参が仰せ出されたが、右が仰せ出されたものの御社参は無かった。

同年、高家中条左京亮殿登城の節、草履取が御法度の大きさで付け大額、寸はずれの大脇指を差したことについて、御徒目付衆が咎め町奉行へ渡り、下馬に四日晒し申した。
同年、本多能登守家来松崎太郎左衛門六之丞が暇願いの儀について預けとなっていたが、その後また親の太郎左衛門も預けにするとの由を承り、親類一緒に取り籠もった。能登守殿立腹有り討手物頭五六人を申し付けたところ、家に火を付け妻子を刺殺し切死した。討手の者共手負い死人数多く御座候由。太郎左衛門は三百石取りであった由。
万治三年、堀田上野介の儀、御暇も申し上げず在所へ罷り越し、その上御不例の節訴状差し上げ、剰え訴状の内一つとして御取り上げ遊ばされるべき儀無く、重々不届きに思し召し候、急度仰せ付けられるべきところ、加賀守御取り立て、その上御供をも仕った倅の儀にこれあるにつき、脇坂中務太輔へ御預け遊ばされ候。倅は加賀守の孫にてこれある故一万俵下され候旨仰せ渡され候。
佐倉城受け取り 朽木民部少輔殿在番仰せ付けられ候。上野介当年の物成残らず息帯刀へ下され候由。十月中江戸屋敷立ち去り行方知れずと沙汰これあり。然るところ佐倉へ相越され家中の者屋敷に居申され候由。乱心沙汰なり。
同年六月十八日、大坂大雷、御城内山里塩硝蔵へ落ち塩硝に火移り多門櫓潰れ、岩城伊豫守殿土岐山城守殿怪我これあり、城州殿家来死者四五人、伊与守殿家来死者二十人、過ちの者八十人、御天守多門櫓石垣損じ、町家千四五軒潰れ死亡過ち数多これあり。御番衆別条無く、御城内夥しく損じ申し候由。

Same year: During Lord Nakajō Sakyō-no-suke of the kōke family's castle attendance, his sandal-bearer wore prohibited large ornamental forehead piece and carried an oversized wakizashi of improper dimensions. The walking inspectors reproached him, he was handed over to the town magistrate, and exposed at the dismounting area for four days.
Same year: Regarding the request for leave by Matsuzaki Tarōzaemon Rokunosuke, retainer of Honda Noto-no-kami, he was placed under custody. Later, when it was learned that his father Tarōzaemon would also be placed under custody, the relatives barricaded themselves together. Lord Noto-no-kami became enraged and appointed five or six military commanders to attack them. They set fire to the house, stabbed their wives and children to death, and died fighting. Many of the attackers were wounded and killed. Tarōzaemon reportedly held a 300-koku stipend.
Manji 3: Regarding Hotta Kōzuke-no-suke, who went to his domain without requesting leave and moreover submitted a petition during His Lordship's illness - not a single item in the petition merited consideration, and this was deemed most improper. Although severe punishment should have been ordered, since he was the son of Kaga-no-kami who had been promoted and had served in attendance, he was placed under the custody of Wakisaka Nakatsukasa-taiyu. Since the son was Kaga-no-kami's grandson, he was granted 10,000 hyō.
Takeover of Sakura Castle: Lord Kuchiki Minbu-shōyū was appointed as garrison commander. All of Kōzuke-no-suke's annual rice yield was granted to his son Taitō. In the 10th month, he left his Edo residence and his whereabouts became unknown. However, it was reported that he went to Sakura where his retainers were residing in the mansion. This was considered madness.
Same year, 6th month, 18th day: A great thunderstorm in Osaka - lightning struck the gunpowder storehouse in the mountain village within the castle grounds, fire spread to the gunpowder, and the tamon turret collapsed. Lords Iwaki Iyo-no-kami and Toki Yamashiro-no-kami were injured. Four or five of Lord Jōshū's retainers died, twenty of Lord Iyo-no-kami's retainers died, and eighty were injured. The main keep, tamon turret, and stone walls were damaged. 1,400-1,500 townhouses collapsed with many deaths and injuries. The castle guards were unharmed, but the castle interior was severely damaged.
