現代語訳

同与三郎弟九兵衛の居宅へ押し込み、半助・九兵衛・家来八人が討たれて引き取ったのを、与三郎と同じ家来の太郎兵衛・五左衛門三人が牛込土橋まで追いかけ、その場所で三人とも討死した。源八方は一様に白羽織・白鉢巻きで松明を灯し、門を打ち破って押し込んだ。源八方にも家来一人が討たれた。同二十二日に右の三人と家来六人が井伊掃部頭殿へ出向き、御詮議の義について「遠方に罷り在り、御尋ねを存じず早速罷り出なかった」と延免を申し、「いかようにも仰せ付けられて下さるよう」に申し立てたという。そこで掃部頭殿が達したところ、「御城下にて甚だしき儀、不作法に思し召され、きっと仰せ付けられるべきだが、掃部頭殿宅へ罷り出たことにより命御助け、大島へ流罪を仰せ付けられる」旨であった。右同じ家中にて源八の親内蔵介が与三郎と口論し、既に刃傷に及ぼうとしたところを、人がいて取り留め、宿所へ帰った。内蔵介は切腹し、与三郎にも指したが、与三郎は切腹せず立ち退いたため、源八等は家中を立ち退いた。右の通りである。 同年四月三日、隠元禅師が遷化した。公儀へ御遺物として差し上げる品々 一 謝思偈一軸(自筆) 一 五百羅漢図 王振鵬筆 同年【六月】高野山火事 【同年五月】 同年、琉球王が奉使して方物を献上した。これは去年琉球船をオランダの部類のイギリス人が海賊したことによって、イギリス人入津の時に御咎めで過料を仰せ付けられ、銀三貫目が公儀へ召し上げられた。この銀を琉球へ下されることによるものである。 同年十二月六日、勢州津の城の本丸・二の丸が焼失した。 一 延宝元年丑五月、京都大火。禁裏・院中が炎上した。 一 延宝二年寅三月十日・十一日・十八日・十九日・二十日・二十一日、肥前筋・五畿内・丹波・近江・播州・中国筋で洪水があった。 同年四月、佐竹右京大夫殿の城下秋田で失火し、二千軒余りが焼失した。 同年三月、千住のサイカ淵より百姓が玉を見つけて取り上げた。重さ四百二十匁である。その頃三浦の沖より海士が取り上げたヤギと、右の玉とを日光御宮へ納めた。

The same Yosaburo and his brother Kyubei's residence was attacked. Hansuke, Kyubei, and eight retainers were killed and taken away, whereupon Yosaburo and fellow retainers Tarobei and Gozaemon (three men) pursued them to Ushigome Dobashi, where all three also died in battle. Genpachi's group uniformly wore white haori jackets and white headbands, lit torches, broke down the gate, and forced their way in. One retainer on Genpachi's side was also killed. On the 22nd of the same month, the aforementioned three men and six retainers appeared before Lord Ii Kambu-no-kami, stating regarding the investigation: "We were residing in a distant place, did not know of your inquiry, and did not come immediately," requesting postponement and saying "please order us however you see fit." When Kambu-no-kami conveyed this, he said: "This was an extremely serious matter in the castle town, considered improper conduct, and should be severely punished, but since you have come to Kambu-no-kami's residence, your lives are spared and you are ordered exiled to Oshima." Within the same household, Genpachi's father Kuranosuke quarreled with Yosaburo and was about to draw his sword when someone intervened and they returned to their lodgings. Kuranosuke committed seppuku and ordered Yosaburo to do the same, but Yosaburo refused to commit seppuku and departed, so Genpachi and others left the household. Such was the situation. Same year, 4th month, 3rd day: Zen Master Ingen passed away. Same year, 4th month: A fire broke out in the castle town of Akita belonging to Lord Satake Ukyo-daibu, destroying over 2,000 houses. Same year, 3rd month: A peasant discovered and retrieved a jewel from Saika Pond in Senju. It weighed 420 monme. Around that time, a diver retrieved a yagi (sea creature) from off the coast of Miura, and both this yagi and the aforementioned jewel were dedicated to Nikko Shrine.
