The aforementioned Lord Takumi conspired with Kawai and Abe, leading to successive improper acts. As for Lord Sukenoshin, he submitted a petition to the authorities regarding these matters and withdrew to Kōzuke Province. The origin of this was that Lord Iga-no-kami had no legitimate heir, so he intended to make his younger brother Sukenoshin the successor. However, the retainers argued that Lord Takumi should be the successor as he was the legitimate grandson, so Lord Takumi was summoned to Edo. Lord Sukenoshin thought that while Takumi's succession was reasonable given the lineage, there should have been consultation given the initial circumstances. Since no such consultation occurred and he was displeased, he submitted a petition to the authorities, which led to this investigation and the aforementioned results. Lord Arima Iyo-no-kami: His domain was confiscated and he was placed in custody of the main family. This was because regarding Lord Hijikata Iga-no-kami's case, Lord Hayashi Sukenoshin went to Lord Iyo-no-kami and reported the matter, but he did not provide proper assistance and his conduct in not understanding family affection was utterly improper, therefore the aforementioned punishment was decreed. ○Same year, 8th month [28th day written in red ink to the right of "month"]: Fight in the palace <<annotation: instant death: Lord Hotta Chikuzen-no-kami | attacker: Lord Inaba Iwami-no-kami>> ○Same year: Due to the completion of assistance with Nikkō construction and repairs, rewards were bestowed and gifts were given to retainers: <<annotation: 50 pieces of silver | 5 seasonal garments and haori>> <<annotation: retainer of Lord Niwa Wakasa-no-kami |>> Eguchi Saburōemon <<annotation: 30 pieces of silver | 4 seasonal garments and haori>> <<annotation: same as above |>> <<annotation: Tanehashi Sukenoshin | and three others>> Same: <<annotation: retainer of Lord Sanada Izu-no-kami |>> Kimura Nuiemon Same: <<annotation: same as above |>> <<annotation: Hara Sōbei | and three others>> <<annotation: 30 pieces of silver | 3 seasonal garments and haori>> <<annotation: retainer of Lord Naitō Sakyō-no-suke |>> Iseki Kuranosuke <<annotation: 20 pieces of silver | 3 seasonal garments and haori>> <<annotation: same as above |>> <<annotation: Nōshō Taifu | and three others>> Same: <<annotation: retainer of Lord Tsugaru Etchū-no-kami |>> Tsugaru Hyōma Same: <<annotation: same as above |>> <<annotation: Tamura Tōdayū | and three others>> ○Same year, 11th month, 11th day: Lord Honjō Jirōzaemon was appointed to Tsume-taifu and took the title Inaba-no-kami [this entire line in red ink] ○Same year: Lord Matsudaira Shuri-no-taifu, after two investigations, had his domain confiscated and was placed in the custody of Lord Hoshina Higo-no-kami.
