On the first day of the intercalary sixth month, Kira Wakasa-no-kami Minamoto no Yoshifuyu, who had been appointed as senior envoy together with Aoki Shingobeē on the twenty-seventh, departed Edo today and arrived in Kyoto on the seventh. The next day, the eighth, he visited the palace gate and conveyed the following message: "The Shogun's house was shocked by this unexpected conflagration, and is greatly pleased that the imperial family and all below were unharmed. Regarding reconstruction, Suō-no-kami will be ordered to come to Kyoto in due course. First, as a gesture of sympathy, gifts are presented as listed in the inventory," which was communicated to both Densō.
Items presented:
One silver tea ceremony set with complete furnishings ⟨including kettle, tea bowls, tea bowl stands, water jar, water waste bowl, ladle stand, lid rest, rings⟩
All made of white silver, with the imperial chrysanthemum mon on the tea ceremony set and tea bowls.
One pair of folding screens ⟨one pair features ink paintings by Sesshū titled "Kōzenki," the other pair shows fan motifs by an ancient Hōgen⟩
One inkstone box of Higashiyama-dono ⟨called "Ibaraki inkstone," with nashiji maki-e lacquerwork box⟩
Two tea caddies ⟨one called "Kujū" (Nine Layers), formerly owned by [Ashikaga] Takauji, with Takauji's seal on the back and "Kujū" written on an attached label in Sen no Rikyū's calligraphy; the other is a newly imported "Rosun" (Luzon ware), treasured through Dai'yū-in-sama's connoisseurship⟩
Two pieces of aloe wood in boxes, weighing over 1,300 monme
One hundred pieces of gold; one hundred rolls of silk ⟨including fifty rolls of scarlet crepe, fifty rolls of white gauze⟩
One hundred pieces of silver for Nagahashi-no-tsubone; one thousand pieces of silver ⟨for all court ladies⟩
These items were brought by Kira Wakasa-no-kami and delivered to both Densō.
The Emperor had moved to Sentō Palace. In previous envoy visits, he would receive them in his presence, but this time, due to the fire destroying his ceremonial robes, there was no audience. Therefore, leave was granted with an imperial decree that there should be a meeting. Only an audience with Sentō-sama took place.

In the same year, the Chief Priest of Ise was exiled to Sado. This was because the Chief Priest, who by ancient precedent should attend the Imperial Court, had in recent years failed to attend and resided in Ise, conducting affairs according to his own will. This was reported to the government authorities, and after investigation, he was exiled.
