等差出候義共旁御後闇次第ニ候一体先頃家来共申合不届之
始末有之候も其不行届故之儀拝借上納御差延之儀ニ付ても不憚
儀等申立常〻身持不取〆りにて家来咎筋有之節取飾之儀共
相聞不届ニ候へ共家柄之訳を以聊御宥恕之品も有之候処半左衛門出
奔之儀久〻其分ニ打捨置当正月ニ至届も差出し則近親えも
初而及相談候趣ニ相聞候半左衛門養方血縁之事ニ候へは猶更厚く

そなたの養子半左衛門が去年十一月に検見先から出奔した件を隠していました。同十二月中にそなたに差し控えを仰せ付けられた際、半左衛門の差し控えの件を取り扱いについて相伺いしようとして、すでに御目通り遠慮をも仰せ付けられました。そなたの差し控え中に、半左衛門が御用を相勤めているなどという届け等を差し出したことは、全く御後暗き次第です。そもそも先頃、家来どもが申し合わせて不届きな始末があったのも、その不行き届きのせいです。拝借上納の御差延の件についても憚らず申し立てるなど、常々身持ちが締まらず、家来に咎めるべき筋があった際に取り繕うことなどが聞こえており、不届きではありますが、家柄の訳をもって聊か御宥恕の品もありました。ところが、半左衛門出奔の件を長らくそのままに打ち捨て置き、当正月に至って届けも差し出し、すぐに近親にも初めて相談に及んだ趣に聞こえます。半左衛門は養方血縁の事なので、なおさら厚く

Although both had their hair singed short, they immediately departed as express messengers to report to Edo. They were promptly summoned before His Lordship and, as a reward, both received salary increases by His Lordship's decree.

During your suspension, you submitted reports claiming that Hanzaemon was performing official duties - this is entirely disgraceful conduct. Originally, the recent misconduct where your retainers conspired in improper behavior was also due to your poor management. Regarding the deferment of borrowed funds repayment, you made shameless appeals, and with your consistently loose conduct, when your retainers committed offenses requiring punishment, you attempted to cover things up - such reports have reached us.
