   一潰家半潰家共〆九千百四十八軒外長屋七十七軒半潰共    一死人共八百六十七人外ニ弐百六十弐人生死不定    一死牛馬九十九疋外ニ六十疋病馬   右之通先達而御届申上候通在所地震にて領分町在田畑苗代   損山崩用水堰道橋損并城中侍屋敷町在潰家死人   右之通ニ御座候且城内破損所多御座候別紙を以御届申上候田畑   損毛高之儀取納候上追而可申上候      五月《割書:寛延四未年也|》     榊原式部大輔   右之地震の事今の多々良?五蔵か祖父惣蔵は高田より養子に来る   人なりしか此地震之節初年にて怖しき限り覚えしと毎度   咄しを聞候事なりし立て歩行する事ならすいつれも這出たりし   との物かたり聞候事也 乗邨 一 寛文八申年二月十八日寺院へ従 公儀被 仰出   一梁行京間三間を限るへし但桁行は可為心次第   一仏檀角屋京間三間四方を限るへし   一小棟作りたるへし  一四方しころ庇京間一間半を限るへし   一壁木作より上の詰構無用たるへし   右は堂舎客殿方丈庫裡其外何にても此定より梁間広く   作るへからす若広く可作子細於有之は寺社奉行所へ申伺可任差図事 一 宝暦四戌年閏二月廿六日御用番酒井左衛門尉様御渡被成惣而   御咎被 仰付候者之一類共ゟ差扣伺差出候覚    御役被召放候者 父子兄弟祖父孫 閉門逼塞 同断

一 潰れ家・半潰れ家合わせて九千百四十八軒、外に長屋七十七軒(半潰れ共) 一 死人合わせて八百六十七人、外に二百六十二人生死不定 一 死牛馬九十九匹、外に六十匹病馬 右の通り、先達てお届け申し上げた通り、在所の地震にて領分の町在・田畑・苗代の損害、山崩れ・用水・堰・道・橋の損害、並びに城中侍屋敷・町在の潰れ家・死人、右の通りでございます。かつ城内破損所多くございます。別紙を以てお届け申し上げます。田畑損毛高の儀は取り調べ候上、追って申し上げます。    五月(寛延四未年なり)     榊原式部大輔 右の地震の事、今の多々良(?)五蔵の祖父惣蔵は高田より養子に来た人でしたが、この地震の節は初年にて恐ろしき限り覚えしと毎度話を聞いたことでした。立って歩行することならず、いずれも這い出たりしとの物語を聞いたことです。乗邨 一 寛文八申年二月十八日 寺院へ公儀より仰せ出され  一 梁行京間三間を限るべし 但し桁行は心次第とすべし  一 仏壇角屋京間三間四方を限るべし  一 小棟作るべし  一 四方しころ庇京間一間半を限るべし  一 壁木作りより上の詰構用いるべからず  右は堂舎・客殿・方丈・庫裡その外何にてもこの定めより梁間広く作るべからず。もし広く作るべき子細これ有らば、寺社奉行所へ申し伺い差図に任すべき事 一 宝暦四戌年閏二月二十六日 御用番酒井左衛門尉様より御渡しになられた、総て御咎め仰せ付けられ候者の一類共より差し控え伺い差し出し候覚   御役召し放たれ候者 父子兄弟祖父孫 閉門逼塞 同断

Gozō was a person who came as an adopted son from Takada, and since this earthquake occurred in his first year [there], he remembered it as terrifyingly frightful, as we have heard him tell many times. Unable to stand and walk, everyone crawled out - such were the stories we heard.
