疫癘（ゑきれい）速（すみやか）に治（ぢ）する妙薬法（めうやくほう）
□【一？】時疫（じゑき）を治するには。芭蕉（ばせを）の白根（しろね）掛目五匁おろししぼりて。
其生汁（そのなましる）を冷水（れいすい）一合にくはへ呑（のめ）は治する事／速（すみやか）也。熱（ねつ）つよきには
□て呑（のむ）べし。若（もし）ねつ裏（り）に入（いり）てはつさんしがたきには。四五日も
つゝけ呑（のめ）は熱（ねつ）はつさんして命（いのち）にさはりなし。近頃江州日野住人（ちかころこうしうひのゝちうにん）
中井／某（それかし）此／同方（とうはう）をしるし。印施（いんぜ）【注①】ありて疫難（ゑきなん）をすくふの功大（こうおゝ）ひ也
一七／曜（よう）の中の月／曜星（ようせい）もし五月五日にあたれはそのとし疾疫（しつゑき）
の愁（うれ）ひ多（おゝ）しと或経（あるきやう）に説（とけ）り。然るに当亥（とうい）のとし五月五日月曜に
あたれり。よつて其／愁（うれ）ひあらんことをおそる此ごろ間々（まゝ）疫病（やくひやう）
の流（はや）る事をきく。凡病の難治（なんぢ）なる傷寒（しやうかん）【注②】温寒（うんかん）疫癘（ゑきれい）【注③】に
越（こゆ）るものなしと。此／妙方（めうはう）我家（わかいへ）にもむかしよりつたへてあまた
の人に用ひこゝろむるに一人として治せざるはなし誠に仰（あを）ぎ
用ゆへき珍方（ちんはう）なれば。今／先人（せんじん）の志（こゝろざ）しをついで弥（いよ〳〵）この薬方（やくはう）
をひろめて。世（よ）にひとしく益（ゑき）あ□【ら】んことをこひねがふのみ

現代語訳
疫病を速やかに治す妙薬法
【一】流行病を治すには、バショウの白い根を目方で五匁をおろしてしぼり、その生汁を冷水一合に加えて飲めば治ることが速やかである。熱が強い時には冷やして飲むべきである。もし熱が体の内部に入って発散しにくい場合には、四、五日も続けて飲めば熱が発散して命に支障がない。近頃、江州日野の住人中井某がこの同じ処方を記して印刷配布し、疫病の災いを救う功績が大きい。
七曜の中の月曜日がもし五月五日に当たればその年は疫病の心配が多いと、ある経典に説かれている。ところで当亥年（文化十二年）の五月五日が月曜日に当たった。よってその心配があることを恐れる。この頃時々疫病が流行することを聞く。およそ病気で治療が困難なのは傷寒、温寒、疫病を超えるものはないという。この妙薬処方は我が家にも昔から伝わっており、多くの人に用いて試したところ、一人として治らない者はなかった。まことに仰ぎ用いるべき珍しい処方なので、今、先人の志を継いで、いよいよこの薬方を広めて、世の中に等しく利益があることを希い願うばかりである。
熱症には冷水を用いるべきである。もし陰症であるか、または水を好まない人には湯を加えて用いるべきである。ただし、バショウがない所ではミョウガの汁を多く飲んでよい。また牛蒡汁を飲んでもよい。
付録
赤痢で治りにくいものに、バショウの根を煎じて服用すれば治ることが速やかである。

Miraculous Medicine Methods for Rapidly Curing Epidemic Diseases
[One] To treat epidemic diseases, grate five monme of the white roots of banana plant and squeeze out the juice. Add this fresh juice to one gō of cold water and drink it - the cure will be swift. When fever is strong, cool it before drinking. If the fever has entered deep into the body and is difficult to disperse, continue drinking for four to five days and the fever will disperse without endangering life. Recently, a certain Mr. Nakai, a resident of Hino in Ōmi Province, recorded this same prescription and distributed it in print, achieving great merit in rescuing people from epidemic disasters.
It is explained in a certain sutra that if Monday among the seven days of the week falls on the fifth day of the fifth month, that year will have many worries about epidemics. Now, in this year of the Boar (Bunka 12), the fifth day of the fifth month falls on Monday. Therefore, we fear that such worries may arise. These days we occasionally hear of epidemic diseases spreading. Generally speaking, among difficult-to-treat diseases, none surpass typhoid fever, warm-cold diseases, and epidemics. This miraculous prescription has been passed down in our family since ancient times, and when tried on many people, not one failed to be cured. It is truly a precious prescription that should be revered and used. Now, carrying on the aspirations of our predecessors, we increasingly spread this medicine method, hoping and praying that it will equally benefit the world.
For heat symptoms, cold water should be used. If it is a yin symptom or for people who do not like water, hot water should be added. However, in places where banana plants are not available, drinking plenty of Japanese ginger juice is good. Drinking burdock root juice is also effective.

For dysentery that is difficult to cure, decoct banana plant roots and take the medicine - the cure will be swift.
