## 【右丁】（前丁よりの続き）

……年、江戸の桂川宅での薬品会に出品された。天明八年（1788年）、オランダ商館長（紅毛甲必丹、名はハン・シイテ）が幼鳥を携えて来日し、献上した。また嘴の大きなものも持参した。語って曰く、「およそ百年を経たものはこのようである」と。

## 【左丁】八ツ頭（ヤツガシラ）

戴勝（伯労の附録として掲載）

日本産ではない。姿は鳩に似ているが細長い。目は淡赤色。嘴は細く長く、根元は淡赤色で先端は淡黒色。足は緑色。頭の羽毛は細長く、黄色で端が黒く、常に帽子をかぶっているようである。さえずる時には起立して、羽の扇（うちわ）のように〔冠羽が〕広がる。目の周辺は黄色。頂と喉は淡緑色。背もまた淡緑色で黒い斑がある。翅は白と黒の横縞模様が並び、翅の端は黒い。胸は淡黄色。腹は白。尾は黒く、中間は白。

…[This beak specimen] was exhibited at a pharmaceutical/natural history gathering (薬品会) held at the residence of Katsuragawa in Edo. In the eighth year of Tenmei [1788], the Dutch Captain (紅毛甲必丹), whose name was Han Shiite [Hendrik], brought a young bird and presented it as a gift. He also brought a large beak specimen. He stated: "Those that have lived approximately one hundred years appear like this."

## [Left Folio] Yatsugashira (Hoopoe)

*Daishou* [戴勝; Hoopoe] — (Appended to the entry on the *Hakurō* [伯労; Shrike])

This bird is not of Japanese origin. Its form resembles a pigeon but is more elongated. The eyes are pale red. The beak is slender and long, pale red at the base and pale black at the tip. The feet are green. The feathers on the head are slender and long, yellow with black tips, and it always appears as if it is wearing a hat. When it sings, it stands upright and [its crest] spreads open like a feather fan. The area around the eyes is yellow. The crown and throat are pale green. The back is also pale green with black spots. The wings display alternating white and black horizontal bands, with the wing tips being black. The breast is pale yellow. The belly is white. The tail is black with white in the middle.
