現代語訳
一 病室は屏風や襖を立て回して風が入らないようにすべきである。また障子に日が照り輝くのは良くない。薄暗い方が良い。
一 疱瘡は汗をかくことを嫌う。汗が出れば水疱を保てず、厚着や頭巾も用心しすぎて却って害になることがある。
一 肌着は着替えてはならない。疱瘡の最中に風寒に感じれば急変が起こって、甚だしい者は忽ちに死ぬ。ただし暑中および暖和の時節は格別である。
一 重い疱瘡患者を背に負ったり、或いは抱いて歩行したり、また揺り動かすことは皆疲れを増す。化膿し、瘡蓋ができる頃は最も悪い。
一 疱瘡は第一に掻き破ったり擦り損じたりすることを忌む。水疱が膨らみ化膿する頃は昼夜心がけるべきである。もし顔を破る時は、軽い者は余毒となり、中等度以上の疱瘡は必ず死となる。これは全く看病人の罪である。世人はただ痕になるのみと思うのは大なる誤りである。一寸の油断、居眠りの間に大切な子を殺すことがある。

One: Smallpox dislikes sweating. If sweat appears, the pustules cannot be maintained properly, and excessive precautions with thick clothing and head coverings may instead cause harm.
One: Undergarments must not be changed. If one catches wind-cold during smallpox, sudden changes occur, and severe cases die immediately. However, during hot weather and warm seasons, this is an exception.
One: Carrying a severe smallpox patient on one's back, holding and walking with them, or rocking and moving them all increase fatigue. This is especially harmful during the suppuration and scabbing stages.
One: The primary taboo with smallpox is scratching and rubbing the pustules to damage them. During the swelling and suppuration stages, one must be vigilant day and night. If the face is damaged, mild cases result in residual toxin, while moderate to severe smallpox cases inevitably result in death. This is entirely the fault of the caregiver. It is a great error for people to think it merely leaves scars. A moment's carelessness or dozing off can kill a precious child.
