わずかな日数なので、繰り返し繰り返しよく心がけるべきである。
一 疱瘡が痒い時に小豆を袋に入れて叩く人がいるが、甚だ悪い。疱瘡の頂点が自然と潰れたり、あるいは破れたりし、重い疱瘡は大いに精神を疲れさせる。その中でも顔面は最も忌むべきである。もしやむを得ない場合は、羽箒や兎の手で軽く撫でるべきである。
一 近頃は襦袢の袖を長く袋状にするけれども、痒い時はその袋で擦るため、掻き破るのを防ぐには足りない。ただ大人の衣類で手が出ないようによく包んでおくべきである。
一 今の世では医者も素人も烏犀角の効能を知らず、ただ疱瘡を発疹させる薬と心得る者が多い。大なる誤りである。烏犀角は疱瘡の毒を解し血熱を清めるものである。故に疱瘡が紫色で乾き枯れ、大便が固い症状に用いるべきである。もし虚弱な症状で発疹しにくい症に用いれば必ず脾胃を損じ、下痢が止まらず、食べられなくなり、内攻して死ぬ。金銀を出して災いを買うようなものである。これを医者が勧めるとは何事であろうか。
