現代語訳
物をたくさん与えれば良いというものである。ここの道理をよくよく考えてもらいたい。疱瘡は順症であれば薬を用いずとも自然と発疹し膿も持つはずのものである。その発疹をさせず膿を持たないものがある。それを見つけて療治するのが医者である。下手な者の眼には見えないゆえに上手を頼むのではないか。
一 疱瘡には四節八症があり、その変化は測り難いもので、尋常の医者には分からない。況してや素人の知るべき様もない。しかるに側から色々な薬を勧める者がある。もし間違えば人の命にかかることを、素人の余計な世話である。病家もまた素人の説に迷わず、薬は医者に任せるべきである。
一 玄圃梨を水に浸し鼻の孔を潤して開ける事は大いに悪い。鼻は塞ぐを良しとする。もし開ける時は気が漏れて膿を持たず、終いには乳も鼻より出て内攻して死ぬ。
