世間の人々は疱瘡の食物の禁忌を知らず、看病の粗忽によって死ぬ者が多い。家の大人（主人）が深く嘆き、そのためにこの書を選んで私に命じて校正させた。私は諸書を探索して、詳しくその漏れている所の食療の品十種を得た。これを載せるのも大山の一つの籠と言えるが、やらないよりは良いであろう。
