子孫没たる家々はなへてしつ心なく物待るなるも
ことはりなり凡此病にかゝりし者あやまちて忽に

くすしも病さのうからやりしもひたふるに心もち
申へきことにこそ池田瑞仙ぬし其父錦橋先生より
もはらこれをすくふ道にいたりふかきをもて

子孫が絶えてしまった家々は皆して不安な気持ちで物事を待つのも道理である。およそこの病気にかかった者が、誤って急に死に至る境遇に陥れば、これを救う手立てはない。初めから医師も病気の親族も、ひたすら心構えを申すべきことである。池田瑞仙殿は、その父錦橋先生よりもっぱらこれを救う道に至り深いものを持って、■■（判読不明）関東の御医師に加えられた。その殿がいよいよその道を磨き得られたので、世の人のためにその病気の前後に服用する食物の良し悪しを始めとして■（判読不明）し、あらかじめ心得るべき事柄を書き記し

It is only natural that families whose lineages have been cut short all wait anxiously for developments with uneasy hearts. Generally, when someone afflicted with this disease mistakenly falls into circumstances leading to sudden death, there is no way to save them. From the beginning, both physicians and the patient's relatives should steadfastly maintain proper mental preparation. Master Ikeda Zuisen, having inherited from his father, Master Kinkyō, particularly deep knowledge of the path to healing this condition, was appointed as an imperial physician in the eastern provinces. As this master has increasingly refined his expertise in this path, for the benefit of people in the world, he has written down the good and bad aspects of foods to be consumed before and after this illness, as well as various matters that should be understood in advance.
