The assigned carpenters (each in purified garments) assemble in front of the council chamber gate.
When the appointed time arrives, the shrine officials and others proceed to the shrine grounds, entering through the first torii gate, passing the second torii gate, crossing the bridge hall's western bamboo bridge, and crossing the sacred bridge to enter through the tower gate and middle gate.
Next, the shrine officials and shrine affairs representatives take their seats in the covered corridor, while the construction supervisors take their seats on the covered corridor veranda. The construction magistrate takes his seat at the western offering hall, and the visiting parishioners gather and take their seats under the northern eaves of the feast hall and guardhouse.
Next, the assigned carpenters (wearing hemp ceremonial dress) advance to the front of the temporary hall's foundation beams and erect the pillars (ten in number). After completion, they return to their seats.
Next, the head carpenter and head master builder advance to the front of the western pillar timber and perform one bow. Prior to this, two boards and cypress leaves are laid out east and west on top of the foundation beams (this is the duty of the construction office).
Next, one attendant (in hemp ceremonial dress) carries forward the sacred offering box and passes it to the head master builder, who receives it and passes it to the head carpenter, who holds it up and offers it on top of the cypress leaves.
Next, one attendant carries forward a sake vessel and passes it to the head master builder, who receives it and passes it to the head carpenter, who fills the earthenware vessels from the offering box and makes the offering. During this time, one attendant carries forward a sake pot and passes it to the head master builder, who takes it and adds it to the sake vessel. At this time, the assistant head carpenter makes divine food offerings at the base of the eastern pillar. The ceremony is the same as for the head carpenter (at this time, court musicians perform music).
Next, the head and assistant head carpenters recite ritual prayers at the bases of the left and right pillars, then return to their seats after completion.
Next, the head and assistant master builders along with the attendants advance to the eastern and western pillar bases, remove the offerings, and withdraw.
Next, the shrine officials and others each withdraw.
Next, evening offerings are made to the outer sanctuary, with court musicians performing music at that time.
Next, the shrine officials and others hold a sacred feast and sake ceremony in the office building, then disperse after completion.
