現代語訳

一　延享四年卯年六月十一日、兄甚左衛門は思し召しによりお給分を召し上げられた。しかしながら、父甚左衛門がご奉公に精を出して勤めていたところを思し召され、そなたを先の甚左衛門の名跡として御徒士に召し出し、十八俵二人扶持を下され、御用人支配を仰せ付けられた。

一　宝暦二年壬申年四月十五日、長屋を下され、荒町の兵藤喜兵衛跡の長屋を下された。

一　同四年戌年閏二月、願いの上で名を源八と改めた。

一　同年五月三日、御供方御徒士を仰せ付けられ、御徒士頭支配となった。

一　同十年庚辰年十月十八日、不届きな願いを申し立てたため、追放を仰せ付けられた。

一　同十三年癸未年六月十二日、御買方仮役を仰せ付けられ、御役扶持一人扶持を下され、非番の節は御使いの方を相勤めるべき旨を命じられた。

一　明和六年己丑年二月二十三日、年数相勤めたため、御買方仮役を滞りなく免じられた。

一　同八年辛卯年六月二十一日、榊原式部大輔様のご家来増子儀右衛門の妹との結婚が許可された。

一　同九年壬辰年六月二十一日、御徒士目付を仰せ付けられ、二俵の御加増で高二十俵となった。

一　安永元年十二月二十一日、幸左衛門と改名した。これまでは伊八。

一　同二年癸巳年五月二十四日、買方仮役を再び勤めることを仰せ付けられ、御役料一人扶持を下された。

一　同五年丙申年二月二十二日、友左衛門と改名した。これまでは幸左衛門。

一　同年四月二十四日、病気のうえ不束のため、願いの通り御徒士目付並びに買方仮役を免じられ、御供方へ帰番することを仰せ付けられた。

一　同七年戊戌年六月二十一日、御下屋敷勝手を仰せ付けられた。

- On the 11th day of the 6th month of Enkyō 4 (1747), Year of the Rabbit, his elder brother Jinsaemon had his stipend confiscated by lordly decree. However, in consideration of their father Jinsaemon's diligent service, he was summoned as an ashigaru (foot soldier) to succeed the former Jinsaemon's position, granted a stipend of 18 hyō and provisions for 2 people, and placed under the supervision of a magistrate.

- On the 15th day of the 4th month of Hōreki 2 (1752), Year of the Monkey, he was granted lodgings in the former quarters of Hyōdō Kihei in Aramachi.

- In the intercalary 2nd month of Hōreki 4 (1754), Year of the Dog, he petitioned to change his name to Gen'ya.

- On the 3rd day of the 5th month of the same year, he was appointed as an attendant ashigaru under the supervision of the ashigaru commander.

- On the 18th day of the 10th month of Hōreki 10 (1760), Year of the Dragon, he was banished for making an improper petition.

- On the 19th day of the intercalary 4th month of Hōreki 12 (1762), Year of the Horse, he was newly summoned as an attendant ashigaru, granted 18 hyō and provisions for 2 people, and assigned to Edo service.

- On the 12th day of the 6th month of Hōreki 13 (1763), Year of the Sheep, he was appointed as temporary purchasing officer with additional provisions for 1 person, and ordered to serve as a messenger when off duty.

- On the 23rd day of the 2nd month of Meiwa 6 (1769), Year of the Ox, having served for many years, he was smoothly relieved of his temporary purchasing officer duties.

- On the 21st day of the 6th month of Meiwa 8 (1771), Year of the Rabbit, his marriage to the sister of Masuko Giemon, a retainer of Lord Sakakibara Shikibu-no-Taifu, was approved.

- On the 21st day of the 6th month of Meiwa 9 (1772), Year of the Dragon, he was appointed ashigaru inspector with an increase of 2 hyō, making his total stipend 20 hyō.

- On the 21st day of the 12th month of An'ei 1 (1772), he changed his name to Kōzaemon, having previously been called Ihachi.

- On the 24th day of the 5th month of An'ei 2 (1773), Year of the Snake, he was reappointed as temporary purchasing officer with additional provisions for 1 person as position allowance.

- On the 22nd day of the 2nd month of An'ei 5 (1776), Year of the Monkey, he changed his name to Tomosaemon, having previously been called Kōzaemon.

- On the 24th day of the 4th month of the same year, due to illness and incompetence, as petitioned, he was relieved of his duties as ashigaru inspector and temporary purchasing officer and reassigned to attendant service.

- On the 21st day of the 6th month of An'ei 7 (1778), Year of the Dog, he was assigned to service at the lord's lower residence.
