鬼ヶ島よりたびたびと日数もかかるので、様子はいかがかと窺いに来て、お清を呼び出したからには当然だが、なぜ手の延びるようにするのか。言うには「お前方の手にさえ負えない」
桃太郎さん、私が女の身でどうしてそのようになるものかと言えば、さすが鬼も見て取り「それではお前は桃太郎に目が腐れついた、その腐った根性では心もとない島にて、皆々相談して桃太郎を取り殺そう」と、止めても止まらず振り払って行く。

「それでは鬼ヶ島よりの回し者か。今一度島へ渡り、片っ端から撫で斬りにしてくれる」

Coming from Oni Island takes many days, so [the oni] came to inquire about the situation. Having called out Okiyo, it was natural, but why make [the situation] drag on? He says, "Even your hands cannot handle this."
"Momotaro-san, how could I, being a woman, become like that?" she says. The oni, perceptive as expected, sees through this: "So you have become infatuated with Momotaro. With such a rotten disposition, [you are] unreliable. On the island, we will all consult together and kill Momotaro." Despite attempts to stop him, he shakes free and leaves.
