　《割書：寅｜卯》ひろし二三の間六分或ハ五分半切る一
　二粒をしるたよりにせんのミ

　朝貌草なりといへども指芽（さしめ）を生し蔓（つる）を
　つぎ或ハ切花にして種をとる事《割書：予｜》此花を
　好てこれを試（こころ）むよつて左にしるす
〇　蔓を継（つぐ）には同鉢に二本ならべ植て能々
　肥し両方の柚（ぢく）を四分ツ丶そぎとり合して平（ひら）
　すげにてまき一月を経ころすげをとり程
　よき所より一方を切三本四本も其道理なり
　又ハ二葉の中より本葉一枚出るころ片葉ゟ

〇　差芽（さしめ）ハ丈夫なる蔓ハ五寸　柔（よハ）きつるハ
　末を留置其所より芽出かけの頃二三寸下
　より切て鉢に筋違（すじかい）に差尤一七日の間ハ
　中日に当て極日に当ず砂かちの土よろし

現代語訳

寅卯が広い。二三の間は六分または五分半切る。一
二つ粒を知る手がかりにするだけである。

○ 口伝
朝顔草とはいえ、挿し芽を生やし、蔓を
接ぎ、または切り花にして種を取ることができる。私はこの花を
好んでこれを試したので、左に記す。

○ 蔓を接ぐには、同じ鉢に二本並べて植えて十分に
肥料を与え、両方の軸を四分ずつ削り取って合わせ、平たい
菅でまいて一ヶ月を経た頃、菅を取り、適当な
所から一方を切る。三本四本もその道理は同じである。
またはふた葉の中から本葉一枚が出る頃、片方の葉から
半分に取り、両方を合わせて植えておけば一ヶ月の内に
貼り付くであろう。

○ 挿し芽は、丈夫な蔓は五寸、柔らかい蔓は
末端を残しておき、その所から芽が出かけの頃、二三寸下
より切って鉢に斜めに挿す。特に一週間の間は
半日陰に当てて、強い日光に当てない。砂勝ちの土が良い。

英語訳

tora-u is wide. The space between two-three is six bu or five and a half bu cut. This is only
used as a clue to identify one or two grains.

○ Oral Transmission
Even though it is morning glory grass, one can grow cuttings,
graft vines, or use cut flowers to obtain seeds. Since I
enjoy this flower and have experimented with it, I record it below.

○ To graft vines, plant two plants side by side in the same pot and provide plenty of
fertilizer. Cut four bu from both stems, join them together, and wrap with flat
sedge grass. After about one month, remove the sedge and cut one side at an appropriate
location. The same principle applies for three or four plants.
Alternatively, when one true leaf emerges from between the cotyledons, take
half from one leaf, join both sides and plant them. They should
attach within one month.

○ For cuttings, sturdy vines should be five sun long, while for soft vines,
leave the tip intact. When buds begin to emerge from that point, cut two to three sun below
and insert diagonally into the pot. Especially for one week,
place in partial shade and avoid direct strong sunlight. Sandy soil is preferable.
