　候而申付様は正月朔日には惣責をして城を
　乗捕可申候間大晦日之夜中ゟ忍ひ付に塀際迄
　付竹たばを付て夜明るを待て夜本の〳〵と
　明けは松倉陣所に築山有しに此築山へ大将
　之内膳正挑燈を二つ出扁し其挑燈出は石火
　矢を残ら春打へし惣手之人数ゟも石火矢
　之音を聞一度にと川と城中へ乗込可申与相
　図を今被定
天草軍記載　松倉長門守家老書出候写
　一両方御鉄炮先に押出随に為打候而以後懸り

　　可申事
　一板倉主水様右近様跡に引付御懸り可被成候先
　　程右近様新兵衛に慥に被仰渡候何茂御内
　　衆も其筈に可被存候事
　一楯抔も為持先に而働能様可有様之事
　　　但余之御家中には楯為持候哉もふ存候事
　一先程作左衛門に被仰付候通打捨之筈に何茂慥に
　　申觸候事
　一塀之根に竹束を為持候而可寄事
　一貝を吹候事貝次第鉄炮為打可申哉之事

現代語訳

して申し付けた様子は、「正月朔日には総攻撃をして城を乗っ取り申すべき間、大晦日の夜中より忍び寄って塀際まで付き、竹束を付けて夜明けを待て。夜がほんのりと明けたら、松倉陣所にある築山へ大将の内膳正が提灯を二つ出して合図とし、その提灯が出たら石火矢を残らず撃ち放て。総手の人数からも石火矢の音を聞いて一度にどっと城中へ乗り込み申すべし」との相図を今定められた。

天草軍記に載せる松倉長門守家老の書き出し候写し
一、両方とも御鉄砲を先に押し出し、随時撃ちながら、その後懸かり申すべきこと
一、板倉主水様・右近様は後に引き付いて御懸かり成さるべく候。先程右近様が新兵衛に確かに仰せ渡され候。何れも御内衆もその筈に存ずべく候こと
一、楯なども持参して先にて働き良き様にあるべき様のこと
　ただし余の御家中には楯を持参候やと思い存ずること
一、先程作左衛門に仰せ付けられた通り打ち捨ての筈に、何れも確かに申し触れ候こと
一、塀の根に竹束を持参して寄るべきこと
一、貝を吹くこと。貝次第で鉄砲を撃ち申すべきやのこと

英語訳

The instructions given were as follows: "On New Year's Day we shall launch a general assault and capture the castle. From the night of New Year's Eve, approach stealthily to the base of the walls, place bamboo bundles, and wait for dawn. When the night begins to brighten, the commanding general Naizen-no-shō will display two lanterns on the artificial hill at Matsukura's camp as a signal. When those lanterns appear, fire all the stone-fire arrows. When the combined forces hear the sound of the stone-fire arrows, they shall all charge into the castle at once with a great shout." These signals have now been determined.

From the Amakusa War Chronicle, a copy of the written orders from Matsukura Nagato-no-kami's senior retainer:
1. Both sides shall advance their firearms first, firing as appropriate, then charge afterward.
1. Lord Itakura Mondo and Lord Ukon shall follow behind and then engage. Earlier, Lord Ukon gave firm orders to Shinbei. All the inner retainers should understand this arrangement.
1. Shields and such should be carried and used effectively in the vanguard.
However, I wonder if other household units are also carrying shields.
1. As ordered to Sakuzaemon earlier, this is to be a fight to the death—this has been clearly communicated to all.
1. Approach the base of the walls carrying bamboo bundles.
1. Regarding blowing conch shells: fire muskets according to the conch signal.
