　右二通壱つに巻付上を紙にて張候て極月晦
　日浜手之築山之方へ射出し候
西村五兵衛覚書曰極月大晦日島原之内小浜
　野陣暮六つ為年暮内匠小屋に何茂参居申
　候処有馬ゟ飛騨差越明元日城乗被仰付候
　今夜之内彼地へ参着不仕候得は間に合ふ申候
　由申越内匠申候は早打立候之間用意仕候様にと
　申に付面々小屋に罷帰何茂仕廻次第罷出申候
　内匠は者や罷出申候故段々追付申候事
又曰小浜ゟ有馬迄志やうとうし越八里之間

　前日大雨降其夜大雪道悪敷殊之外闇
　ふゞきに逢人数二つに成内匠には侍四人付相
　残者はものへ古城之上に而夜を明し申候自分
　之具足馬家来之者少々跡勢に付残元日
　之城乗自分には春者たに而罷出候事

　飯塚《割書：自是至原田行程七里｜八丁此間号冷水越有山》黒田甲斐守同市正

現代語訳

右の二通を一つに巻き付け、上を紙にて張り候て、極月晦日浜手の築山の方へ射出し候。

西村五兵衛覚書に曰く、極月大晦日島原の内小浜野陣、暮れ六つ時、年暮れのため内匠小屋に何れも参り居り申し候ところ、有馬より飛騨へ差し越し、明元日城乗りを仰せ付けられ候。今夜の内に彼の地へ参着仕らず候えば間に合い申し候由申し越し、内匠申し候は早々打ち立ち候間、用意仕り候様にと申すにつき、面々小屋に罷り帰り、何れも仕舞い次第罷り出で申し候。内匠は早や罷り出で申し候故、段々追い付き申し候事。

また曰く、小浜より有馬まで正当に越え、八里の間、前日大雨降り、その夜大雪、道悪しく殊の外暗く、吹雪に遭い人数二つに成り、内匠には侍四人付き、相い残る者は物へ古城の上にて夜を明かし申し候。自分の具足・馬・家来の者少々、跡勢に付き残り、元日の城乗り、自分には腹巻にて罷り出で候事。

松平甲斐守輝綱天草日記に曰く、極月晦日筑前飯塚《割書：これより原田に至るまで行程七里八丁、この間を冷水越と号し山有り》黒田甲斐守同市正、駅路において面謁す。

According to the memorandum of Nishimura Gohei: On New Year's Eve of December at the Kohama field camp in Shimabara, at the evening hour of six, everyone had gathered at Takumi's hut for the year-end when word came from Arima to Hida that they were ordered to storm the castle on New Year's Day. If they did not arrive at that place during the night, they would not be in time. Takumi said to depart immediately and prepare accordingly. Everyone returned to their huts and came out as soon as they finished their preparations. Since Takumi had already departed early, they gradually caught up with him.

Also recorded: From Kohama to Arima, crossing properly over eight ri, there had been heavy rain the previous day, and that night there was heavy snow. The roads were bad and extremely dark. Encountering a blizzard, the forces were split in two. Four samurai accompanied Takumi, while the remaining men spent the night on top of the old castle at Mono. His own armor, horse, and a few retainers remained with the rear guard. For the New Year's Day castle assault, he himself went out wearing only a chest protector.
