別当杢左衛門覚書曰正月二日ゟ竹把越に而鉄砲
　を打送申候事
勇功記曰舊冬長崎へ被分遣たる当家之軍
　勢は二日之晩有馬之御陣に馳来る
細川家島原軍記曰正月二日光利公御人数被
　引卒川尻を御出舩島原之内次川に御渡海
　其夜次川に被成野陣余多所に篝を焼申候

現代語訳

切支丹御退治記巻之二十

正月二日丙寅
別当杢左衛門覚書に曰く、正月二日より竹束越しに鉄砲を撃ち送り申し候事。

勇功記に曰く、昨冬長崎へ派遣された当家の軍勢は二日の晩に有馬の御陣に駆けつけた。

細川家島原軍記に曰く、正月二日光利公が御人数を率いて川尻を御出船し、島原の内の次川に御渡海された。その夜次川に野陣を張り、多くの所でかがり火を焚いた。

According to the memorandum of Betto Mokuzaemon: From the second day of the first month, we sent rifle fire over bamboo bundles.

According to the Chronicle of Brave Deeds: The military forces of our house that were dispatched to Nagasaki in the previous winter arrived at the Arima camp on the evening of the second day.

According to the Hosokawa House Chronicle of the Shimabara Campaign: On the second day of the first month, Lord Mitsutoshi led his troops from Kawashiri by ship and crossed over to Tsugikawa in Shimabara. That night they made camp in the field at Tsugikawa and lit bonfires in many places.
