【右丁】
ここに東の森の辺りに伊左衛門という口利き（仲介業者）がいた。紀文はこの伊左衛門に頼んで、かつ山を身請けしたいと頼みに来た。この伊左衛門のことを「東の森の東」という句を取って「とう伊」と呼んでいる。

「...かつ山は奈良茂...酒だ...というがあれ...という真似があるか...俺が...も行かないで」
「とう伊さん、どうぞ頼むから今から廓へ行って相談してみてください」

奈良茂はこのことを立ち聞きして、「金をまいて助六を一番被らせてやろう。うまい話だ」
「助六さん、奈良茂とやらと紀文とやらが身請け勝負をするというが、お前は金の工面ができるまい。嘘でもいいから三百両手に入れなければならない。今夜私が一年で無限の金に例えて手水鉢をついてみせよう【この先かすれ多し】必ず待っていてください。夜が明けぬうちについて...みせよう」

かつ山の座敷は助六と珍々かものやり取りである。今時の無限は金の照る案じはないぞ。「それなら待っているから、ついてみなさい」

Here in the vicinity of Azuma no Mori (Eastern Forest), there was a broker named Izaemon. Ki-Bun came to ask this Izaemon to help him buy out Katsuyama. This Izaemon was called "Tō-I" after taking characters from the phrase "Azuma no Mori no Higashi" (East of the Eastern Forest).

Tonight I will strike the hand-washing basin as if it were infinite money earned in one year... [text becomes unclear] Please wait without fail. Before dawn breaks, I will strike it..."
