現代語訳
その金は偽金であったので、茶屋の亭主は待ち伏せして助六をさんざんに打ち叩いた。
「これ助六、これから遊郭へ来てみろ。命はないぞ、大泥棒め！この偽金使いめ、ぶち殺してくれようか」
「まったく偽金を使った覚えはないぞ。騒ぐな」
それより奈良茂は助六が来ないことを知り、かつ山を身請けしようと亭主に談合する。東伊はこのことを聞き、「奈良茂に身請けされては、貴文に頼まれた義理があるので立たない」と東伊は思案した。
「なんでも亭主、かつ山を身請けするぞ」
「はいはい、かつ山にも話しまして、ご相談申しましょう」
