一廻り二付見計中之間へ相越扣居り無程老衆細廊下通り
　御引懸扇子取り少シ進ミ出日光帰之

　御目見被　仰付蒙
　上意難有旨御禮申上奥へ被入候与部屋へ引
一同役衆へ今日之吹聴申述先方ゟも歓被申聞候
一退出より老若衆可致廻勤処疱積足痛不出来ニ付
　御礼廻断使者差出直帰宅九ツ半時一寸五ト

【（朱筆にて）、これもまた申し合わせた】
一 廻りに付き見計らって中之間へ向かい控えていると、間もなく老中衆が細廊下を通り、御引掛かりがあり、扇子を取り少し進み出ると、日光帰りの

御目見を仰せ付けられ、上意を蒙り有り難い旨御礼申し上げ、奥へ入られると部屋へ引き取った。

一 同役衆へ今日の吹聴を申し述べ、先方からも歓びを申し聞かされた。

一 退出してから老若衆へ廻勤を致すべきところ、疱瘡や足痛が出来なかったため、御礼廻りを断り、使者を差し出し、直ちに帰宅した。九ツ半時一寸五分。

英語訳

【(In red ink) this was also agreed upon】
One: Making rounds as planned, I went to the Naka-no-ma and waited. Soon the rōjū passed through the narrow corridor, and there was a summons. Taking my fan and advancing slightly, [I was told about] the return from Nikkō

and was commanded to have an audience, received the gracious imperial word, expressed my gratitude for this honor, and when [the lord] entered the inner chambers, I withdrew to my room.

One: I reported today's announcement to my colleagues, and they also expressed their joy.

One: After withdrawal, I should have made courtesy calls to the senior and junior officials, but since smallpox and foot pain did not develop, I declined the courtesy rounds, sent a messenger, and returned home directly. Nine-and-a-half o'clock, one sun and five bu.
