夫より 御上段江摺上り平伏左之通言上
去廿日於日光
御霊屋 御名代之拝禮首尾好
相勤天気迠宜万端無御滞相済
申候
右言上畢而 御下段江摺下り右江廻り下ゟ
二畳目江手を突平伏御用番顔計向候と
御取合有之此節骨捌折太儀之
上意有之又々伊豆守殿江向候と御取合
有之畢而右江廻り退去初之通罷出羽目
之間山吹之間通り席江罷出無滞帰府之
御目見申上候段同席奏者番江も吹聴致し
詰日之衆より先江退出
一退出之節年寄衆本多弾正大弼殿若年寄
衆江相廻候事
一当勤之同席中江日光帰之
御目見申上蒙
上意難有仕合奉存候依之詰日助共可相
勤候間宜被仰合可被下候段以廻状案内

割廻状本多伯耆殿より到来

一七半時出宅ニ而御用番松平伊豆守殿江対客
罷越帰府之
御目見仕蒙 上意候御礼申上之勝手江
罷通附込候而吹聴申之直ニ帰宅六半過
一今夕松平伊豆守殿より先達而差出置候
現代語訳
それから御上段へ進み上がり平伏して次のように言上した。
「去る二十日、日光において
御霊屋の御名代としての拝礼を首尾よく
勤め、天気まで良好で万事滞りなく済ませ
申しました。」
右の言上を終えて御下段へ下がり、右へ回って下から
二畳目へ手をついて平伏していると、御用番が顔だけ向けて
御取り合いがあり、この度骨折りで大儀であったとの
上意があった。また伊豆守殿へ向かって御取り合い
があり、終わって右へ回り退去し、最初の通り出て羽目
の間、山吹の間を通り席へ出て、滞りなく帰府の
御目見を申し上げた段を同席の奏者番にも話し、
詰日の衆より先に退出した。
一、退出の節、年寄衆本多弾正大弼殿、若年寄
衆へ回った事
一、当勤の同席中へ日光帰りの
御目見を申し上げ上意を蒙り、ありがたい仕合せと存じる。
ついては詰日助ども相勤めるべき間、よろしくお話し合い
いただきたい段を回状をもって案内申し遣わした。
一、日光帰りの
御目見、詰日助ども相勤めるべき回状を差し出したところ、詰日
割回状が本多伯耆殿より到来した。
二十五日
一、八時半に起床
一、七時半に出宅して御用番松平伊豆守殿へ対客として
伺い、帰府の
御目見を仕り上意を蒙った御礼を申し上げるため勝手へ
通り、付き込んでお話し申し上げ、すぐに帰宅した。六時半過ぎ。
一、今夕松平伊豆守殿より先だって差し出し置いた

Then I proceeded up to the upper platform (go-jodan) and prostrated myself, making the following report:
"On the 20th, at Nikko,
I successfully performed the worship ceremony at the sacred mausoleum as the lord's representative,
with favorable weather and all matters completed without any delays."
After completing this report, I descended to the lower platform and turned right, moving down from there.
I placed my hands on the second tatami mat and prostrated myself. The duty officer (goyōban) turned only his face toward me and acknowledged me. There was an imperial word saying that this time I had worked hard and performed a great service. Again, there was an acknowledgment directed toward Lord Izunokami. After this concluded, I turned right and withdrew, exiting as I had entered through the Hame-no-ma and Yamabuki-no-ma chambers, returned to my seat, and successfully completed my audience upon returning to Edo. I also informed my colleague, the master of ceremonies (sōshaban), about this matter and left before the regular duty officers.
1. Upon leaving, I made courtesy calls to Elder Honda Danjō-daihitsu and the Junior Elders.

I sent a circular letter to my colleagues on current duty, informing them that I had completed my audience upon returning from Nikko and received imperial acknowledgment, which I considered a most fortunate honor. I requested that they arrange for assistant duty officers to serve, asking for their kind coordination.

1. Left residence at 7:30 AM to visit Duty Officer Lord Matsudaira Izunokami as a guest caller, went to the private quarters to express gratitude for having completed my return audience and received imperial acknowledgment, spoke with his attendants, and returned home immediately. Past 6:30 PM.
