井上河内守殿のところへ参上したところ、対客が始まり、内藤能登守殿と一緒に座席に出て御礼を申し上げた。その後、松平右京太夫殿のところへ参ったが、対客がなかったので用人に口頭で御礼を申し述べて帰った。
六時半過ぎに帰宅した。
一、五時半に供揃えをして、服紗半上下を着用して出宅し、登城前に秋元但馬守殿のところへ参り、おおよその挨拶をして御礼を申し上げた。酒井左衛門尉殿、松平右近将監殿のところへ参ったが、普請中で殿にお会いできず、用人に口頭で申し置いた。その他の勤めを済ませて九時半に帰宅した。
御礼登城前は老中のみ（佐渡守殿）、若年寄、御側衆へは参上しなかった。
四月九日
一、内藤能登守殿より、明日十日に日光への御暇を仰せ出されるので、五時半に登城するようにとの老中連名の奉書が到来したとの案内の表手紙が来た。承知の旨の返事を遣わした。
同十日
一、内藤能登守殿から使者をもって、今日日光への御暇を仰せ出され、上意を蒙り、拝領品を頂戴したとの有り難い旨を知らせてきた。

I visited Lord Inoue Kawachi-no-kami's residence, where formal audience (taiyaku) had begun. Together with Lord Naito Noto-no-kami, I took my seat and expressed my gratitude. After that, I went to Lord Matsudaira Ukyo-dayū's residence, but since there was no formal audience, I verbally expressed my gratitude to his steward and returned home.
I returned home after 6:30.
At 5:30, I arranged my retinue, dressed in formal half-dress (fukusa han-kamishimo), left home, and before going to the castle, I visited Lord Akimoto Tajima-no-kami to offer general greetings and express my gratitude. I also visited Lords Sakai Saemon-no-jō and Matsudaira Ukon-shōgen, but as construction work was ongoing, I could not meet with the lords and left my message verbally with their stewards. After completing other duties, I returned home at 9:30.
For the ceremonial castle visit, I only visited the Senior Councilor (Lord Sado-no-kami) and Junior Councilors; I did not visit the chamberlains (goshū-gashū).
April 9th
Lord Naito Noto-no-kami sent word via a formal letter that tomorrow, the 10th, permission for departure to Nikkō would be granted, and that I should attend the castle at 5:30, as conveyed through an official document signed by the Senior Councilors. I sent a reply acknowledging this.
Same day, 10th
Lord Naito Noto-no-kami sent a messenger to inform me that today permission for departure to Nikkō was granted, that he received the shogun's gracious words, and was bestowed with gifts, for which he expressed his gratitude.
