handed over to the monk
1. At Dentsuin Temple
There was a memorial service for Lord Teikanin-sama, and this morning
Lord Nagato served as the shogun's representative, so he came to serve, and met with Lord Bizen-no-kami at the guard station waiting area
1. For the same reason, he went out and met with messengers from the Three Branch Houses and the former Chunagon of Mito at the azalea room, and an assistant guard attended
1. While waiting in the hibiscus room, Gome-tsuke (Inspector) Isshiki Kuninosuke told him to come closer, so
he accompanied this person to the next room adjacent to the clock room and waited as shown in the diagram
1. Soon, Wakadoshiyori (Junior Councilor) Endo Tajima-dono came out to the double door area and exchanged greetings, so
following behind him, without passing through the clock room, he took his seat near the cedar doors for the funeral of imperial relatives. The elder councilors took their seats and bestowals were announced (marginal note: when announcements are made, take up the fan)
He respectfully accepted with gratitude, and then after greetings with Tajima-dono's retainers at the bright sliding doors, he withdrew and waited near the cedar doors. Then Wakadoshiyori Torii Tanba-dono
exchanged greetings (marginal note: wearing sword) and waited near the white heron cedar doors at the entrance to the second room of the audience chamber
Also exchanging greetings with this person, he went to the audience chamber, proceeded along the edge veranda, and
knelt down outside the threshold, slid inside the threshold and prostrated himself. Only Lord Bizen-no-kami's name was
announced, and in response there was an imperial command. Immediately from near the upper platform, at the second tatami mat,
he knelt, then slid closer and slid up to the upper platform and prostrated himself, whereupon the following was declared:
Due to the succession, I appoint you as representative to Nikko Mausoleum
There was an imperial command, and while still prostrated, he slid down the lacquered veranda to the second tatami mat,
turned right and stood, retreated from the threshold of the lower platform to the first tatami mat, placed his hands on the second tatami mat
and prostrated himself. Lord Bizen-no-kami responded "I humbly accept," he slid out to outside the threshold,
turned right and stood, withdrew as before, and at the morning glory cedar doors (marginal note: wearing sword, holding fan) at the clock
