二而同姓津田源之丞口上書を以申達候ニ付御家老中へ相達之
一同日皆川舎人申聞候ハ拙者御番組津田源之丞申聞候ハ津田鷹三郎屋敷門内ニ有之候仮小
屋焼失ニ付鷹三郎江戸留守故家内之者為慎差置申度段相伺候処伺之通被仰付候依之

采女方へ被相達候処自火ニ而も無之表ニ附火之体ニ候得ハ遠慮等被相伺ニ不及旨
但右ニ付夜番人段々御【吟脱】味之儀留有之
一同年十二月廿九日小四時過栗崎道的長屋出火類火無之仍之悴智之《割書：道的江戸｜留守也》為致遠慮置可申旨岡部
玄伯相達候ニ付今日中為致遠慮明日ハ年始ニも候間不及遠慮旨玄伯へ被申渡段伊勢方被申聞候
一同十六亥三月二日松岡ニ而武沢第七家焼失海令寺方ニ而自分遠慮同四日御免
一同十九刁五月朔日暁浜町本多内蔵助方下屋敷内同人家来林吉左衛門与申者罷在候長屋弐間半ニ三間庇共焼失火
消之面々夫々罷出ル右出火之様子内蔵助方家来落合十郎兵衛月番海福忠左衛門宅へ罷越申達候
案スルニ右二付内蔵助方遠慮伺等之留不相見

現代語訳
一、同年十二月二十日（虫損）新御番組南部治右衛門の居宅焼失、類焼無し。
一、同四年戌六月十三日 御先物頭大谷一右衛門の厩から出火し、居宅共に残らず焼失、類焼有り。
一、御城下出火につき御目付勤め方、火事の節詰所の部に出ている。
一、文化元年子正月七日暮れ六時過ぎ 津田鷹三郎屋敷内の小屋焼失。吟味を遂げたところ、鷹三郎は江戸留守であり、同姓津田源之丞が口上書をもって申し達したため、御家老中へ相達した。
一、同日 皆川舎人が申し聞かせるには、「私の御番組津田源之丞が申し聞かせるには、津田鷹三郎屋敷門内にある仮小屋が焼失したため、鷹三郎は江戸留守故、家内の者を慎みのため差し置きたい段を相伺いしたところ、伺いの通り仰せ付けられた。これにより一家のうち右源之丞の通路願いの通り仰せ付けられた旨、源之丞も同様に断り申し聞かせた。
一、安永九年子四月六日 御使番松原四郎兵衛（割書：新屋敷）が自火で焼失。ただし厩から出火し持馬が焼け落ちたため、五月二日閉門を仰せ付けられた。
一、享保十四年酉二月二十一日夜 酒井与三左衛門方の長屋腰板に付け火があり、腰板に燃え付いたのを消し留めた。その段を翌朝上月武左衛門をもって稲葉采女方へ相達したところ、自火でもなく表に付け火の体であれば、遠慮等を相伺いするに及ばない旨。
ただし右につき夜番人段々御吟味の儀が留められてある。
一、同年十二月二十九日小四時過ぎ 栗崎道的の長屋出火、類焼無し。よって倅智之（割書：道的江戸留守なり）が遠慮致し置くべき旨を岡部玄伯が相達したため、今日中遠慮致し、明日は年始にも候間、遠慮に及ばない旨を玄伯へ申し渡した段を伊勢方が申し聞かせた。
一、同十六年亥三月二日 松岡にて武沢第七の家焼失。海令寺方にて自分遠慮し、同四日御免。
一、同十九年刁五月朔日暁 浜町本多内蔵助方下屋敷内、同人家来林吉左衛門という者が罷り在る長屋二間半に三間庇共焼失。火消しの面々それぞれ罷り出る。右出火の様子を内蔵助方家来落合十郎兵衛が月番海福忠左衛門宅へ罷り越し申し達した。
案ずるに右につき内蔵助方の遠慮伺い等の留は見当たらない。

一、延宝二年丑十二月十六日 大工町斎木左次右衛門から居宅土蔵出火。兼ねて左次右衛門の妹そよが乱心したため土蔵内に囲い入れ置いたところ焼死。もっとも火燵火鉢等は決してなく、灯火だけ入れ置いた旨。検使御徒目付山路藻助。
一、享保十五年戌二月二十九日 御匙医田代万貞の本屋の台所から火が出て煙出し口へ火が移ったが、早速消し留めた。万貞が遠慮を相伺いしたところ、少々の儀で鎮まったので、その儀に及ばない旨。
一、同年七月二十三日 大御番宮下円四郎屋敷の内土居にある稲荷堂に出火があったため、遠慮を相伺いしたところ、遠慮仕り罷り在るべき旨。八月三日御免。
一、同十六年亥二月二十八日 御奉行江口次郎兵衛屋敷境の塀の屋根が少々焼け出したため、遠慮を伺ったところ、自火とも付け火とも分からず、もっとも軽き事、この節御用も多く候につき遠慮に及ばない旨を、同役酒井六郎右衛門へ稲葉采女が申し渡した。

一、天保十四年卯三月二十二日 狛帯刀が火元で柳御門焼失。仮番所ができるまで御番人を桜御門へ詰めさせ、柳御門の往来を留め置き、翌日仮番所ができて御番人が引き移った事。
ただし類焼屋敷十三軒。帯刀伺い遠慮し、二十九日御免。
一、弘化二年巳五月二十二日 狛杢方屋敷前夜番所焼失。近所屋敷が相騒いだのみで火は消え、（火消しに）罷り出なかった。杢の遠慮伺いも差し出すべきであろうが、御例もあり、御役儀故伺いは差し出されなかった旨。かつ右出火の様子を目代の者から別紙書付をもって相達したため、右の趣共を御用番へ相達した。月番中根新右衛門。
英語訳
1. December 20th of the same year (damaged by insects) - The residence of Nambu Jiuemon of the New Guard Unit was destroyed by fire, with no spread to other buildings.
1. June 13th, the same 4th year (Year of the Dog) - A fire broke out from the stable of Senior Logistics Commander Ōtani Ichiuemon, completely destroying both the stable and residence, with spread to other buildings.
1. Regarding fires in the castle town, the inspector's duties and fire station assignments during fires are detailed in the relevant section.
1. January 7th, Bunka 1 (Year of the Rat), past 6 o'clock in the evening - A small building within Tsuda Takasaburō's residence was destroyed by fire. Upon investigation, since Takasaburō was absent in Edo, his relative Tsuda Gen'nosuke reported the matter in writing, which was conveyed to the senior retainers.
1. Same day - Minagawa Toneri reported: "My guard unit member Tsuda Gen'nosuke informed me that a temporary small building within Tsuda Takasaburō's residence gate was destroyed by fire. Since Takasaburō was absent in Edo, he requested permission to place the household members under restraint." This was approved as requested. Accordingly, Gen'nosuke was also granted permission for passage within the family compound as requested, and Gen'nosuke made the same notification.
1. April 6th, Anei 9 (Year of the Rat) - Messenger Matsubara Shirōbē (marginal note: new residence) suffered fire damage from spontaneous combustion. However, since the fire started from the stable and his horses perished, he was ordered into confinement on May 2nd.
1. Night of February 21st, Kyōhō 14 (Year of the Rooster) - There was arson on the lower boards of Sakai Yosanzaemon's longhouse, and the fire that caught on the lower boards was extinguished. This matter was reported the following morning through Kōzuki Buzaemon to Inaba Uneme, who stated that since it was neither spontaneous combustion nor obvious arson, there was no need to request abstention.
However, there are records of investigations regarding the night watchmen in this matter.
1. December 29th of the same year, past the fourth hour - Kurisaki Dōteki's longhouse caught fire with no spread to other buildings. Therefore, his son Tomoyuki (marginal note: Dōteki was absent in Edo) was advised by Okabe Genpaku to maintain abstention, but since abstention was to be observed only for that day and the next day was New Year's, Genpaku was told that abstention was unnecessary. This was reported by Ise.
1. March 2nd, the same 16th year (Year of the Boar) - Takezawa Daishichi's house was destroyed by fire in Matsuoka. He voluntarily abstained through Kairei-ji, and was pardoned on the 4th of the same month.
1. Dawn of May 1st, the same 19th year (Year of the Boar) - In the lower residence of Honda Nainosuke in Hama-machi, a longhouse of two and a half ken by three ken with eaves, where his retainer Hayashi Kichizaemon resided, was destroyed by fire. Firefighters came out respectively. Honda's retainer Ochiai Jūrōbē reported the circumstances of this fire to the monthly duty officer Kaifuku Chūzaemon's residence.
It appears that no records of abstention requests from Honda's side regarding this matter can be found.

1. December 16th, Enpō 2 (Year of the Ox) - A fire broke out from the storehouse of Saiki Sajiemon's residence in Daiku-machi. Since Sajiemon's sister Soyo had been suffering from mental illness and was confined in the storehouse, she died in the fire. Notably, there were definitely no braziers or fire bowls, only lighting was kept inside. Inspector and foot guard Yamaji Mosuke investigated.
1. February 29th, Kyōhō 15 (Year of the Dog) - A fire broke out from the kitchen of court physician Tashiro Mansada's main house and spread to the smoke outlet, but was quickly extinguished. When Mansada requested abstention, he was told it was unnecessary since it was a minor matter that was quickly contained.
1. July 23rd of the same year - A fire broke out at the Inari shrine located on the earthworks within the residence of Senior Guard Miyashita Enshirō. When he requested abstention, he was told to maintain abstention. He was pardoned on August 3rd.
1. February 28th, the same 16th year (Year of the Boar) - The roof of the boundary fence of Magistrate Eguchi Jirōbē's residence was slightly burned. When he requested abstention, Inaba Uneme told his colleague Sakai Rokurōemon that since it was unclear whether it was spontaneous combustion or arson, and it was a minor matter during a busy period, abstention was unnecessary.

1. March 22nd, Tenpō 14 (Year of the Rabbit) - Koma Tatewaki was the source of a fire that destroyed Yanagi Gate. Until a temporary guardhouse could be built, guards were stationed at Sakura Gate, passage through Yanagi Gate was suspended, and the next day when the temporary guardhouse was completed, the guards were transferred there.
However, thirteen residences were damaged by the spreading fire. Tatewaki requested abstention and was pardoned on the 29th.
1. May 22nd, Kōka 2 (Year of the Snake) - The night guard post in front of Koma Moku's residence was destroyed by fire. Only nearby residences were disturbed and the fire was extinguished without firefighters being dispatched. Although Moku should have submitted a request for abstention, due to precedent and his official duties, no formal request was submitted. Additionally, since the circumstances of this fire were reported by the deputy through a separate written document, these matters were conveyed to the duty officer.
