現代語訳
一、享保六年丑年四月五日、御預所郡奉行江口次郎兵衛の件について、御城下出火の節に郡奉行と同様に切手（関門）へ詰めるべきかと伺ったところ、相当な火事であれば切手へ詰めるよう申し合わせるべきであると申し聞かされた。
一、同八年卯年三月二十八日、御宮火消は大谷助六、狛市右衛門両人で勤めていたが、今度市右衛門が松岡へ遣わされることになったため、助六一人で勤めることになった。三、四月は火事の季節でもあるので、遠方への外出は控えるべきである。その他の月については遠慮は不要であると、助六へ御家老中が申し聞かせた。

御宮火消を免じ、御城下出火の節御宮へ御先物頭三組が出向いていたが、笹治尚膳に火消を仰せ付けられたので、今後は御先物頭二組ずつ出向くよう申し渡すべきである：大谷助六、荒川助右衛門

一、享保十年巳年七月二十八日、御普請奉行両人について
今まで御城下出火の節に飛火消役を仰せ付けていたが、御宮火消の人数が少ないため、今後は組並びに手木の者を召し連れて御宮御仏殿に詰めるよう申し達すべき旨を、芦田右衛門方が申し聞かせ、手紙で申し遣わした控えがある。
一、同十二年未年六月、松原多膳が病気のため、息子仁蔵を火消名代として願い出た通り仰せ付けられた。代番願いの部に記載されている。
一、同十五年戌年十月二十五日、狛伊勢はこの間御家老を免じられたが与力のまま、今日稲葉采女方宅にて御本丸火消を仰せ付けられた。
一、同十八年丑年二月十六日、井上孫左衛門が報告したところによると、勝見村火消が今度特に仰せ付けられ、火の元のことを厳しく申し付けるよう御家老中が申し付けたため、居村で百姓の内十二人を火消の者に申し付け、目印となる道具等も渡して厳しく守るよう申し渡した。
一、同十九年寅年七月十八日
一、御城下火消を仰せ付けられた：松原庄兵衛、酒井与三郎、笹治奉膳。以後家督の面々も連ねて仰せ付けられた。
一、今まで火消を免じられ、寄合並の通り勤めるべき旨：高田小左衛門、松原多膳
右について庄兵衛が申し聞かせたのは、月番順の通り勤め、月番の次の月は残り番を申し合わせる旨である。この件は大火には残り番も出向くが、そうでない時は他にまた火事の話もあれば欠けることになるためである。すなわち御家老中へ申し達した。
一、同日、狛伊勢がマラリア後のため、御本丸火消の件について息子長兵衛に人数をまとめさせて差し出したい旨について、御家老中へ申し達したところその通り仰せ付けられた。
一、同年十月二日、今度御先物頭の内両人が御城下出火で大火に及ぶ節には組の者を召し連れて御本丸へ出向くよう仰せ付けられた。下馬太鼓への断りを差し出し、もちろん昼夜滞りなく。但しこれは今度御代官所御手当として召し連れるよう仰せ付けられた両人から御本丸へ出向くよう仰せ付けられたことである。
一、享保二十年卯年三月七日、松原三郎兵衛が申し聞かせたのは、今度自分が大御番頭牧野主殿の跡を仰せ付けられたので、火事場詰所はこれまでの通り三の丸矢場へ出向くべきかと申し聞いたところ、これまで先役の者が出向いた場所へ出向くよう仰せ付けられた趣旨により、その段を御家老中へ申し達し、先役主殿が出向いた通り鉄御門外へ出向くよう申し達した。
一、同年四月十一日、今度御代官所御手当が御先物頭一人に仰せ付けられたため、御城下出火の節に御本丸へ出向くことも右御用掛りが届いて一人だけ先に出向くよう申し渡すべきかと御家老へ伺った上、その通り御先物頭月番林又左衛門へ申し達した。
一、元文元年辰年八月十五日、今度増預地を仰せ出されて本保御引渡が済んだため、御先物頭公料御用掛りを免じられた。これにより御本丸の大火の節に人数を召し連れて出向くことが止められたので、御本丸へ出向く面々がいなくなった。その趣を縫殿方へ申し達したところ、大火の節は御家老中が詰められることなので、どこへ集まる人数でも呼ぶことができるよう了知すべきであるから、やはり御先物頭は御本丸へ詰める必要はない。そのように心得て控えているよう申し聞かされた。
一、同三年午年四月二十八日、御宮火消芦田図書が御暇を返して出府のため帰るまで、杉田弾正、有賀内記、荻野孫右衛門へ御宮火消を仰せ付けられた。
【朱書】寛保二年戌年七月二十六日、御倹約により高知中火事の節の掛人が止められたため、最前の通り馬印を持たない段があった。もちろん家来は減少しない旨。
一、同年九月十五日、御城にて高知中が申し聞かせたのは、出火の節に纏だけでは人数引き払いの節に入り交じって混雑するので、今後は馬印を持ちたいがどうすべきかと申し聞いたため、御家老中へ申し達して御前へ伺ったところ、勝手次第に持つよう仰せ付けられた。また纏馬印共に御前に御存知でないので、絵形を差し出すよう仰せ付けられ、その段を申し達した。
一、同五年申年四月十四日、松平庄兵衛方宅にて町奉行土屋十郎右衛門へ
この間の火事の話が頻繁で騒いでいるが、火元もあるかわからない旨、これは騒ぎ立てる者もいるためかもしれない。徒者もいれば、この体では放火もするかもしれず、特に気遣わしいことである。申すに及ばないことだが、昼夜十分に吟味し、不審な者、覚束ない者もいれば遠慮なく捕えて吟味すべきである。以上

右同断、御城下近辺の在々でも右の通り心がけて噂を吟味すべきである。以上
この間火事の由来は虚説もあり、火消月番で先方も知らないのに鉦を打って皆が出向き、ことのほか騒がしいので、火消の面々を庄兵衛方へ招いて、皆早速出向くことについて、乾燥も強い季節なので油断なく心がけることはもっともであるが、実際でないことに鉦を打って皆が出れば御城下がことのほか騒がしくなる。そうすれば却って火の元も気遣わしいので、実否を承り合わせて鉦を打って出向くのがよいと思う。右の趣を庄兵衛方が思い寄ったので申し談じた由、火消の面々が申し聞かせたので承り置くよう庄兵衛方が申し聞いた。
一、寛保三年亥年正月二十五日、毛受伝三郎は前髪でまだ勤願も差し出していないが、孝顕寺火消を仰せ付けられた。

Recently there have been false reports of fires, and though the fire brigade monthly duty didn't know beforehand, they rang bells and everyone responded, causing great disturbance. Everyone responding quickly is natural since it's a dry season requiring vigilance, but ringing bells and responding to unconfirmed incidents causes great disturbance in the castle town.
