一延享三寅七月十一日町奉行岩上梶太夫申聞候ハ御城下近所出火有之候而も只今迄御城内へ入不申候然処飛火消之面々罷出拙者儀ハ此鳶
　之者召連候へハ御用ニも立可申間飛火消同様御門内へ入可申哉と申聞候ニ付仲間申談達御耳候処向後梶太夫儀も無滞相通候様被
　仰出候ニ付下馬御門御座所両御門へ切手差出以後入出有之筈
一同四卯二月廿九日御奉行岩上梶太夫へ自然【15行目参照】毛屋辺失火之節町火消之内川方ニも指扣飛火防候様ニ私了簡次第可申付旨仰出候
一寛延元辰十月十一日五半時過小栗八兵衛長屋出火ニ付火消之面々罷出候八兵衛義者仲ケ間願取次有之評定所へ罷出居早速罷帰候処長屋不残焼失
　湿りも宜風も無之ニ付類焼等も無之但今日評定日ニ付御家老中評定所ニ御揃候故月番熊谷小兵衛相詰候　御座所ハナラ権左衛門罷出候火元へハ波多
　野千右衛門長谷部小右衛門罷出候火事湿り之後評定所御用御取扱有之
一天保ニ卯三月廿三日御持弓頭市村久太郎申聞候ハ左之通申付置き候間承置呉候様
　　　明和八卯年格別之思召を以被仰付候百人火消し義年暦相立等閑ニ相成事も有之ニ付此度頭々申談尚又左格之通申渡候事

　庄助迄相掛り申儀故御宮ハ狛舎人本多四郎右衛門両人之内一人可罷出と申談置候也尤御本丸へ御城代酒井与惣兵衛罷出例ニ候へ共自然出火之節之品ニ可依分と兼而遂相

一享保二酉十月廿四日杉田平馬若年ニ候へ共元服仕候へハ何之御奉公も無之罷在候段迷惑仕候依之出火之節無人ニハ候へ共何方へ成共罷出度旨口上書を以有賀小右衛門取次相達候右達

　御構ハ無之気遣ニも有之火事之節ハ御目通ニ不限不及遠慮旨於御座所岡部左膳申渡之
一寛延元辰閏十月六日芦田図書方御家老役被仰付候ニ付御宮火消各へ被仰付候間左様可被相心得候　杉田弾正　有賀極人　波々伯部靱負

現代語訳

一、延享三年寅年七月十一日、町奉行岩上梶太夫が申し述べるには、「御城下近所で出火があっても、今まで御城内へ入れませんでした。しかし飛火消しの面々が出向くので、私も鳶の者を召し連れれば御用にも立つでしょうから、飛火消しと同様に御門内へ入れるでしょうか」と申し出た。これについて仲間で相談して御耳に達したところ、今後梶太夫も滞りなく通れるよう仰せ出された。そのため下馬御門・御座所両御門へ通行手形を差し出し、以後出入りすることになった。

一、同四年卯年二月二十九日、御奉行岩上梶太夫へ、もし毛屋辺りで失火した節は、町火消しのうち川方にも指図して飛火を防ぐよう、私の了簡次第で申し付けるべき旨が仰せ出された。

一、寛延元年辰年十月十一日、五時半過ぎに小栗八兵衛長屋が出火したため、火消しの面々が出向いた。八兵衛は仲間の願い取次があって評定所へ出向いていたが、早速帰った時には長屋が残らず焼失していた。湿りもよく風もなかったので類焼等もなかった。ただし今日は評定日のため御家老中が評定所にお揃いになったので、月番の熊谷小兵衛が詰めていた。御座所にはナラ権左衛門が出向き、火元へは波多野千右衛門・長谷部小右衛門が出向いた。火事が収まった後、評定所で御用の取り扱いがあった。

一、天保二年卯年三月二十三日、御持弓頭市村久太郎が申し述べるには、左の通り申し付けてあるので承知してくれるよう、とのことである。
「明和八年卯年、格別の思召しをもって仰せ付けられた百人火消しについて、年月が経って等閑になることもあるため、この度頭々が申し談じて、なお次の通り申し渡すことである。
一、火事の節、二十人の者が御道具を揃えて早速駆け付けること
一、物持ちの者が代わったら、跡役に差し支えないようにすること。万一人数が揃わないことがあったら詮議して咎めを申し付けること。ただし物持ちについては、達者で先になる者を召し抱え、現場で働かせること
一、頭が代わる節は、火事用人から申し通すので、鳶庄屋並びに鳶の者六人が見知りのため出向くこと
一、消口を取ったら以後消口札を渡すこと。ただし粗雑な消口取りには消口札を渡さないこと」

一、宝永七年寅年七月八日、本多孫太郎が江戸へ召されたため、帰るまで御宮の番を勤める必要なし。芦田右衛門も同断で御本丸火の番を勤める必要なしと仰せ出された。ただし今度高知中のうち江戸へ召されたため、総火消しの世話は笹治尚勝・有賀庄助まで掛かることになったので、御宮は狛舎人・本多四郎右衛門両人のうち一人が出向くべきと申し談じてある。もっとも御本丸へは御城代酒井与総兵衛が出向くのが例であるが、もし出火した節の品によると、かねて相談してある。昇安院【松平吉邦】様の御家督の御礼を仰せ付けられるためである。

一、享保二年酉年十月二十四日、杉田平馬は若年であるが元服したので、何の御奉公もなく控えている段が迷惑であると、出火の節は無人であるが何方へでも出向きたい旨を口上書をもって有賀小右衛門取次で伝達した。右の件が御耳に達したところ、御城下出火の節は道具留め御門の前へ出向いて控えているべき旨が仰せ出され、その段を御座所において取次小右衛門へ稲葉采女が申し渡した。
【下段】注記：平馬の初名は権之助、正徳四年午年八月七日養父五郎兵衛跡目として千石のところ十四歳のため二百人扶持を下し置かれ、高知格で有賀小右衛門の次に仰せ出された。

一、同年八月二十六日、松平主馬が御本丸火の番を仰せ付けられた。芦田右衛門が御家老職に仰せ付けられた代わりである。
右主馬は年寄りのため、出火等の節は悴庄兵衛を差し出すべき旨が仰せ出された。

一、同十九年寅年七月十三日、芦田下野が御宮火消しを仰せ付けられた。ただし下野は病気のことがあるので、悴図書を出火の節は差し出すべき旨。

一、同年八月六日、御城代狛市右衛門が忌中で、御本丸等の出火の節は御目通へは出ないべきかと、御留守居恒岡安左衛門が出向いて伺った。右火事火消しの件は江戸表でも忌中の御構いはなく、気遣いもあって、火事の節は御目通に限らず遠慮に及ばない旨を御座所において岡部左膳が申し渡した。

一、寛延元年辰年閏十月六日、芦田図書方が御家老役を仰せ付けられたため、御宮火消しを各へ仰せ付けられたので、そのように心得られたい。杉田弾正　有賀極人　波々伯部靱負

1. On July 11th of Enkyō 3 (Year of the Tiger), Town Magistrate Iwagami Kajitayū reported: "Even when fires occur near the castle town, I have not been able to enter the castle grounds until now. However, since the flying spark extinguishers proceed there, if I bring along my ladder men, I could also be of service, so may I enter within the gates like the flying spark extinguishers?" When this matter was discussed among colleagues and brought to His Lordship's attention, orders were given that Kajitayū should henceforth be able to pass without hindrance. Therefore, passes were submitted to both the Dismounting Gate and the Audience Chamber gates, and he would enter and exit thereafter.

1. On February 29th of the same 4th year (Year of the Rabbit), orders were given to Magistrate Iwagami Kajitayū that in case of fire near the Keya area, he should direct the river brigade among the town firefighters to prevent flying sparks, according to his own judgment.

1. On October 11th of Kan'en 1 (Year of the Dragon), after 5:30, a fire broke out in Oguri Hachibei's longhouse, so the firefighters proceeded there. Hachibei had gone to the Council Chamber on business for his colleagues, but when he hurried back, the entire longhouse had burned down. Since humidity was good and there was no wind, there was no spread to other buildings. However, since today was a council day with the senior councilors assembled at the Council Chamber, monthly duty officer Kumagai Kobei was stationed there. Nara Gonzaemon proceeded to the Audience Chamber, and Hatano Senuemon and Hasebe Koemon proceeded to the fire source. After the fire subsided, official business was conducted at the Council Chamber.

1. On March 23rd of Tempō 2 (Year of the Rabbit), Archery Captain Ichimura Kyūtarō reported that the following had been ordered and asked for acknowledgment:
"Regarding the hundred-man fire brigade appointed through special consideration in Meiwa 8 (Year of the Rabbit), since years have passed and negligence may occur, the captains have consulted and now issue the following orders:
1. During fires, twenty men should assemble their equipment and rush to the scene immediately
1. When equipment bearers change, ensure no disruption to their successors. If manpower is insufficient, investigate and impose punishment. However, for equipment bearers, employ capable and swift men to work at the scene
1. When captains change, the fire administrator will notify, so the ladder foreman and six ladder men should appear for recognition
1. When fire positions are secured, position certificates shall be issued thereafter. However, position certificates will not be issued for careless position-taking"

1. On July 8th of Hōei 7 (Year of the Tiger), since Honda Magotarō was summoned to Edo, he need not perform shrine guard duty until his return. Ashida Uemon likewise need not perform main castle fire watch duty, as ordered. However, since some of the high-ranking officials were summoned to Edo this time, overall fire brigade supervision fell to Sasaji Naoyoshi and Ariga Shōsuke, so it was agreed that one of either Koma Toneri or Honda Shirōemon would proceed to the shrine. Although Castle Deputy Sakai Yosōbei customarily proceeds to the main castle, this depends on the circumstances of any fire outbreak, as previously discussed. This was due to the ceremony for Lord Shōan'in [Matsudaira Yoshikuni]'s succession.

1. On October 24th of Kyōhō 2 (Year of the Rooster), Sugita Heima, though young, had come of age, and feeling it regrettable to remain idle without official duties, submitted a written request through intermediary Ariga Koemon to proceed anywhere during fires despite being unassigned. When this reached His Lordship's attention, orders were given that during castle town fires, he should proceed to and wait before the Equipment Storage Gate. This was conveyed to intermediary Koemon by Inaba Uneme at the Audience Chamber.
[Lower section] Note: Heima's original name was Gonnosuke. On August 7th of Shōtoku 4 (Year of the Horse), he succeeded his adoptive father Gorobei with 1,000 koku, but being 14 years old, was granted 200-man stipend and appointed in high-ranking status next after Ariga Koemon.

1. On August 26th of the same year, Matsudaira Shume was appointed to main castle fire watch duty, replacing Ashida Uemon who was appointed to senior councilor position.
Since Shume was elderly, orders were given that his son Shōbei should be sent during fires.

1. On July 13th of the same 19th year (Year of the Tiger), Ashida Shimono was appointed to shrine fire brigade duty. However, since Shimono had health issues, his son Zusho should be sent during fires.

1. On August 6th of the same year, Castle Deputy Koma Ichiuemon, being in mourning, inquired through Residence Keeper Tsuneoka Yasuzaemon whether he should avoid appearing for audiences during main castle fires. Regarding firefighting matters, even in Edo there are no restrictions during mourning, and given the urgency, during fires there is no need for restraint whether for audiences or otherwise, as conveyed by Okabe Sazen at the Audience Chamber.

1. On October 6th of Kan'en 1 (intercalary month, Year of the Dragon), since Ashida Zusho's group was appointed to senior councilor positions, shrine fire brigade duties were assigned to each of the following, who should take note: Sugita Danjō, Ariga Kyokujin, Habahakube Yukie.
