一享保十八年丑十月廿九日中島歓喜院前通り道筋悪敷成候ニ付道作り候処下山半左衛門【宗距給帳にあり】組町ニ通り候道端少々相除ケ
道作り不申候故余程地窪ニ成候而有之ニ付半左衛門申聞候ハ右之通ニ付見分も悪敷第一雨降候節水溜り往来ニ致迷惑候
間右道並之通土盛候様致度此段申付呉候様申聞候故遂吟味候処右之道端ハ半左衛門組町之地内ニ而組支配之
場所ニ相違無候ニ付公儀御ふしんニハ難申付由半左衛門へ申聞候乍去組之者共少身成者共之事ニ候へハ自分ふしんも可致
迷惑候間半左衛門相願候ハヽ取扱可申段申聞候処左候ハヽ相願申度旨右之趣急度口上書ニ而触仲間を以申達ニも
及間敷儀ニ候間口上ニ而拙者共ゟ御家老中へ申達呉候様致度旨申聞候ニ付其段申達候処例も有之哉と被申聞候故

一延享二丑七月八日皆川多左衛門裏石垣御ふしん場御堀ニ七ツ蔵埋御門之方へ掛り候橋及大破候ニ付跡之形も消候様ニ可相成哉
ニ付御修補有之候様致取旨同役共荷寄申達候処御作事方ゟ軽修覆を加候様御作事奉行へ可申聞旨助六方被申聞候
一元禄元辰八月五日大橋御普請成就ニ付渡り初仕者之儀遂吟味候処京町大黒屋喜左衛門同俵左衛門ニ代々被仰付旨然共頃日俵左衛門親正石儀不届者ニ付御追放ケ様之
品も有之候故此外ニも渡り初可被仰付恰好之者共町奉行渥美新右衛門へ申聞書出旁江戸へ相伺候処今度ハ御改本町両替屋荒木善左衛門同駒屋長右衛門右両人可申付旨
猶又爰許にても可遂吟味思召之由申来ニ付各申談荒木駒屋申付候様ニ兼而新右衛門
へ杢允申渡候処今五日吉日ニ付則善右衛門長右衛門渡り初仕旨也右為御祝鳥目
三十貫両人ニ被下外時服二宛頂戴為仕候様新右衛門へ申聞候
現代語訳
一、享保十八年丑十月二十九日、中島歓喜院前通りの道筋が悪くなったため道作りをしたところ、下山半左衛門【宗距給帳にあり】組町に通る道端を少々除いて道作りをしなかったため、かなり地面が窪んでいる状態となった。半左衛門が申し聞かせるには、右の通りのため見た目も悪く、第一雨が降る節に水が溜まり往来に迷惑をかけるので、右の道並の通りに土盛りをしたい、この件について申し付けてほしいと申し聞かせたため検討したところ、右の道端は半左衛門組町の地内であり組支配の場所に相違ないため、公儀普請には申し付け難い旨を半左衛門へ申し聞かせた。しかしながら組の者たちは少身の者たちのことなので、自分で普請をするのも迷惑であろうから、半左衛門が願い出れば取り扱うと申し聞かせたところ、それなら願い出たいとの旨、右の趣旨をわざわざ口上書にして触仲間を以て申し達するまでもないことなので、口上で私共から御家老中へ申し達してほしいと申し聞かせたため、その件を申し達したところ、先例もあるかと問われたので、先年野村市郎左衛門組中通りの道が悪い節に市郎左衛門が願い出たため公儀から申し付けられて道作りをした件があった旨を申し達したところ、それなら少々の所なので御普請方へ申し付けて土盛りをするよう申し付けるべき旨を玄蕃方が申し聞かせ、その件を半左衛門並びに道奉行、小普請方等へ申し聞かせておいた。
一、元文二年巳六月朔日、勝見橋掛け替えのため、従前は東光寺裏に舟橋を掛けていたが畑方に多く損害があるため、勝見口御門南へ三十間ほど土手藪を伐り払い、仮舟橋を掛けて往来とした件。
一、元文五年申閏七月四日、中島歓喜院前橋御修覆のため往来を留めた件。
一、延享二年丑七月八日、皆川多左衛門裏石垣御普請場の御堀に七つ蔵埋御門の方へ掛かる橋が大破し、跡形も消えるようになりそうなため御修補があるよう取り計らいたい旨を同役共で申し達したところ、御作事方から軽修覆を加えるよう御作事奉行へ申し聞くべき旨を助六方が申し聞かせた。
一、元禄元年辰八月五日、大橋御普請成就のため渡り初めを行う者の件について検討したところ、京町大黒屋喜左衛門、同俵左衛門に代々申し付けられてきた旨であるが、最近俵左衛門の親正石が不届き者のため御追放のような件もあったので、この外にも渡り初めを申し付けるのに適当な者たちを町奉行渥美新右衛門へ申し聞かせて書き出し、江戸へ伺ったところ、今度は御改本町両替屋荒木善左衛門、同駒屋長右衛門の右両人に申し付けるべき旨、なお当地でも検討すべきとの思召しの由で申し来たため、各々申し談じて荒木、駒屋に申し付けるよう兼ねて新右衛門へ杢允が申し渡したところ、今日五日が吉日のため、則ち善右衛門、長右衛門が渡り初めを行った旨である。右の御祝いとして鳥目三十貫を両人に下され、その他時服二着ずつ頂戴するよう新右衛門へ申し聞かせた。

1. On the 29th day of the 10th month of Kyōhō 18, Year of the Ox, as the road in front of Nakajima Kangiin became poor, road construction was undertaken. However, since a portion of the roadside leading to Shimoyama Hanzaemon's [recorded in the Sōkyo salary register] group town was excluded from the road construction, the ground became quite hollow. Hanzaemon reported that due to this condition, it looked unsightly and, most importantly, water would pool during rainy periods causing inconvenience to traffic, so he wished to build up the earth along the road and requested that this be ordered. Upon examination, since the roadside was within Hanzaemon's group town territory and was definitely under group jurisdiction, it was difficult to order as government construction, which was communicated to Hanzaemon. However, since the group members were of modest means and it would be burdensome for them to undertake construction themselves, it was communicated that if Hanzaemon petitioned, it would be handled. He then said he would like to petition, and since this matter need not be formally submitted through written petition via intermediaries, he requested that we communicate orally to the Senior Councilors on his behalf. When this was communicated, we were asked if there were precedents. We reported that in previous years when the road through Nomura Ichirōzaemon's group area was in poor condition, Ichirōzaemon petitioned and road construction was ordered by the government. We were then told that since it was a small area, the construction office should be ordered to build up the earth, which Genba's office communicated, and this was conveyed to Hanzaemon as well as the Road Magistrate and Minor Construction Office.

On the 1st day of the 6th month of Genbun 2, Year of the Snake, for the replacement of Katsumi Bridge, although previously a boat bridge was placed behind Tōkōji Temple, it caused much damage to the fields, so about thirty ken of embankment and thickets south of Katsumi-guchi Gate were cleared and a temporary boat bridge was built for passage.
1. On the 4th day of the intercalary 7th month of Genbun 5, Year of the Monkey, passage was stopped for repairs to the bridge in front of Nakajima Kangiin.

On the 8th day of the 7th month of Enkyō 2, Year of the Ox, the bridge extending toward the Nanatsu-kura Gate over the moat at Minagawa Tazaemon's rear stone wall construction site was severely damaged and seemed likely to disappear entirely, so colleagues jointly communicated that repairs should be undertaken. Sukeroku's office communicated that light repairs should be added and this should be reported to the Construction Magistrate from the construction office.

On the 5th day of the 8th month of Genroku 1, Year of the Dragon, regarding those who would perform the bridge-crossing ceremony for the completion of Great Bridge construction, upon examination it was found that Kyōmachi Daikokuya Kizaemon and Tawarazaemon had been appointed for generations. However, recently Tawarazaemon's parent Shōseki had been banished for misconduct, so other suitable persons for the bridge-crossing ceremony were communicated to Town Magistrate Atsumi Shinemon and inquiry was made to Edo. The response came that this time Oaratame-honmachi money exchanger Araki Zenzaemon and Komaya Chōemon should be appointed, and that examination should also be conducted locally. After consultation among officials, it was previously conveyed through Mokunosuke to Shinemon that Araki and Komaya should be appointed. Since today the 5th was an auspicious day, Zenzaemon and Chōemon performed the bridge-crossing ceremony. As celebration for this, thirty kan of copper coins were granted to both men, and it was communicated to Shinemon that they should each receive two sets of seasonal clothing as gifts.
