　一御足軽共御普請方之事先年ゟ定法有之仕退之御奉公面々精次第相勤昼前後ニも仕廻罷帰候処近年七ツ
　　切と申御奉公ニ被仰付罷帰候ハ及暮申候依之朝七半頃ゟ支度仕罷出右之頃迄相勤候得ハ被下置候昼飯ニ而ハ不足
　　仕彼是失脚多迷惑至極仕候御足軽共前々三歩或ハ五歩役相勤其上精次第ニ仕退々御奉公故助人も御座候
　　間病人忌中之者引人願不申埋合勤来候得共段々御役歩も相増勝手等困窮仕儀ニ御座候間此以後ハ何とそ

　之其外余方へ指候事も無之候ニ付右喜兵衛向後七歩役御免之旨右衛門八へも仰渡御普請奉行へも月番

一同年十一月十一日御普請方ニ有之候御ふしん道具并材木等只今迄勘定無之候此以後右之品々勘定被仰付候間

現代語訳

一、享保9年2月2日、御先足軽の家計困窮により提出された願い出の条項の内容

一、御足軽共の御普請方の事について、先年より定法があり、仕事を終えた御奉公の人々は精一杯勤め、昼前後にも仕事を終えて帰宅していたところ、近年は七つ時（午後4時頃）で切り上げるという御奉公を仰せ付けられ、帰宅する頃には夕暮れになってしまう。そのため朝七半時頃（午前7時頃）から支度をして出勤し、その頃まで勤めると、下されるお昼飯では不足し、あれこれと失費が多く大変迷惑している。御足軽共は以前は3歩あるいは5歩の役を勤め、その上精一杯仕事を終える御奉公であったため助手もいて、病人や忌中の者の代役を願い出ることなく埋め合わせて勤めてきたが、段々と御役歩も増加し家計等が困窮している状況である。今後は何とか御門番上がりの者達並びに病人忌中の者達を代役に仰せ付けて下さるよう（上下略）

一、同11年9月25日、山元右衛門八組の野村喜兵衛という者は非力な生まれつきで御普請役を必死に勤めることが困難であるため、その7歩役を御免下されるよう去る6月に右衛門八が願い出たところ、御家老中が色々と御吟味された結果、野村一郎左衛門組の勝嶋北右衛門についても7歩役を最初から御免されており、この前例もあり、その他余方へ差し障りもないため、右喜兵衛の今後の7歩役御免の旨を右衛門八へも仰せ渡し、御普請奉行へも月番の所左衛門から申し遣わすべき旨を申し聞かされた

一、同13年4月6日、御座所の御住居替え御普請につき、小玄関口の錠と鍵共に御城代方にあるものを御作事方へ御普請中相渡しする取り扱いの記録がある

一、同16年、大安寺御普請場の御先足軽共の刀脇指の件について、一件御寺御普請の条項に出ている

一、同年11月11日、御普請方にある御普請道具並びに材木等について今まで勘定がなかった。今後はこれらの品々の勘定を仰せ付けられるので、毎年勘定があることを御普請奉行へ御書付をもって御家老中から申し渡された

一、同17年4月11日、御普請方にある御道具を御家中の面々が拝借したいと願い出る者がいる際、屋普請等のやむを得ない品であれば、その品を承り届け、その都度御家老中へ相談して貸し出すようにすべき旨を御普請奉行鈴木源兵衛へ御家老中から申し聞かされた

一、同19年1月18日から御座所御住居替え御普請があった

一、元文元年11月13日、岡部左膳方から申し聞かされたのは、井原丞助については御武役のことであるので御普請銀を御免されることが仰せ渡されたため、その旨を御普請奉行中へ申し聞かせるべき旨により、手紙をもって申し遣わした

一、寛保元年12月16日、大御番筆頭共が御普請役銀御免の件を願い出たため、吟味するよう御普請奉行へ御家老中から申し聞かされ、吟味を遂げたが、御法もあることで御免されては外にも差し支える旨を、今日大藤治兵衛が御家老中へ申し上げたところ、承り置かれる旨を申し聞かされた

一、享保16年6月9日、大安寺御石塔御普請につき、御先組足軽小頭が刀を差し、御普請御足軽が脇指を差すことについて、御普請奉行共にそれぞれ考えがあり、毎度御先物頭中へ御普請奉行から届けもあり、あれこれ双方共に考えがあるため、皆で申し合わせた上で、小頭は刀を止め、御普請足軽は船場までは脇指を差し、御普請の内は御城下の通り脇指を取って勤める筈に申し合わせの上決定した。その旨を御目付栃屋半右衛門から物頭中へ相達した

1. On the 2nd day of the 2nd month of Kyōhō 9 (1724), regarding the petition submitted due to financial hardship of the advance foot soldiers:

1. Concerning the construction duties of the foot soldiers: there has been an established law from previous years, and those in service who finished their work diligently used to complete tasks and return home even before or after noon. However, in recent years, they have been ordered to work until the seventh hour (around 4 PM), and by the time they return home, it has become evening. Therefore, they prepare from around 7:30 AM and work until that time, but the lunch provided is insufficient, leading to various expenses and extreme hardship. The foot soldiers previously served 3-step or 5-step roles and, in addition to finishing their duties diligently, had assistants, so they could cover for sick or mourning personnel without requesting substitutes. However, as their duties have gradually increased, their household finances have become strained. Henceforth, they request that those promoted from gate guard duties and those who are sick or in mourning be appointed as substitutes. (Details omitted)

On the 25th day of the 9th month of the same 11th year: Nomura Kihei of Yamamoto Uemon-hachi's group, being naturally weak, found it extremely difficult to perform construction duties, so Uemon-hachi petitioned in the past 6th month for exemption from the 7-step role. After various deliberations by the senior councilors, it was found that Katsushima Kitauemon of Nomura Ichirōzaemon's group had also been exempted from the 7-step role from the beginning. With this precedent and no interference with other matters, the exemption from the 7-step role for Kihei was conveyed to Uemon-hachi, and it was decided that Shozaemon, the monthly duty officer, should inform the construction magistrates.

1. On the 6th day of the 4th month of the same 13th year: Regarding the construction for relocating the lord's residence, there is a record of transferring locks and keys at the small entrance from the castle deputy's office to the construction office during the construction period.

1. In the same 16th year: Regarding the matter of swords and short swords of the advance foot soldiers at the Daian-ji temple construction site, this case appears in the temple construction regulations.

The senior councilors ordered the construction magistrates to investigate. After investigation, due to existing laws, granting the exemption would affect others adversely. Today, Ō Tōjibei reported this to the senior councilors, who acknowledged the report.

On the 9th day of the 6th month of Kyōhō 16 (1731): Regarding the Daian-ji stone pagoda construction, the advance group foot soldier squad leaders wore swords and construction foot soldiers wore short swords. The construction magistrates had their own opinions, with frequent reports from construction magistrates to the advance unit commanders. Since both sides had various opinions, after consultation, it was decided that squad leaders would not wear swords, construction foot soldiers would wear short swords up to the dock area, and during construction work they would remove short swords as per castle town regulations. This decision was communicated from inspector Tochiya Hanemon to the unit commanders.
